"Anyway," Jade rolls her eyes, pushing herself up from the banister and crossing her arms over her chest, "thank you for helping me with Naomi." She laughs lightly, looking away from me and back out into the open.

Her misty eyes flick back up to meet mine and I see that she's tired, she sighs, "I couldn't leave her by herself and I couldn't find Will." She stops suddenly as though she's moved on to award territory.

My jaw tenses and I look away from her, a sudden anger makes my skin hot. "It's fine, the party was lame anyway." I say, still not looking at her, but I feel her physically relax.

That's true to be fair, the people there where either rich snobs or horny girls, neither of which I wanted to be around. Jade stays quite, the only thing breaking the silence, is an owl hooting in the distance.

Cabin's turn their lights off and the music from
the dock stops, I know that I've only got a few minutes before Will and the other two come back to next door. I'm about to say goodnight and leave when she talks.

"I told Will I would stay away from you." She says in almost a whisper, I notice that she goes back to the habit she has, as she picks at the skin around her thumb.

I know that Will and the rest of his dumbass mates hate my guts, they did before I even met Jade. Stuck up football players. Will would make many life a living hell if he found out I've made a move on his girlfriend more than once. Well, he can try.

"Good luck with that." I let out a breath, not bothering to look back over at her. I feel her eyes on my face, as she isn't able to decide whether I mean that in a rude or teasing way.

"It's just that well, you haven't done a brilliant job so far." I say looking at her my eyes meeting hers, "Have you?" I ask raising my eyebrow, giving her a playful smirk.

Her eyes flick down to my lips and then back up to mine, confused for a split second, but then she starts to smile too. "That wasn't my fault," she looks back at the cabin and groans. "I'm going to have to deal with hung over Naomi tomorrow."

She drops her head into the crook of her arm leaning over the banister. She says it like it's a reoccurring theme. "Hung over Naomi?" I question, raising my eyebrows and she laughs into her arm, before titling her head to look at me.

"Yeah, there's a lot of complaining and shouting at me to get her water. When I'm lucky she just sleeps for most of the day."

"It sounds like your more her servant that her friend." I say curiously. I couldn't be mates with someone who constantly needed me to do stuff for them. Like, what's the point in that?

"We're more like sisters than friends," she starts, taking in a deep breath of the summer air, "we can go days without talking and then pick up where we left off."

I stay quite, listening to what she has to say. "She'll talk bad about me and I'll call her a slag to her face," Jade smiles and I just tilt my head confused. Jade just chuckles, shaking her head, "and the next minute we'll being say 'I love you' to each other."

"Whatever she needs from me I'll do without her having to ask and vice versa, because that's what family does. Simple." She shrugs and I know that it's what she firmly believes.

I think it's cute that she thinks she knows exactly what a friendship is suppose to be like. Weird, but cute.

"Sounds draining." I say meaning it, I look at her and her eyes go defensive, the fire behind them igniting. I watch as she tries to figure out how to respond, the clogs in her brain physically turning. She turns her head away from me flicking her hair over her shoulder lightly. She's found her response.
