Jade's POV
It's been two says since our interaction.
Leo has been following me around like a lost puppy ever since.
His hand on my back as he guides me through doors, his arm around my waist as we walk around camp. His hand in mine as we sit and talk for hours.
I keep catching him staring at me, his green eyes laced with something as they trace over every inch of my face. As though he needs to remember it before I disappear into thin air.
We're back at our special place, spending time together as the sun shines brightly in the middle of the sky. Birds sing their songs peacefully in the trees, faint sounds of trickling water in the background.
I put my arms to my side and start spinning, standing in the middle of the flowers as I go in circles.
I feel a smile breaking out as I let my feet take feet take me in circles. The golden sun on my face and body as I breath in the fresh air.
I giggle as I almost fall over, the soft grass underneath me feeling warm as I feel my head swirl.
I open my eyes to see Leo sitting with his back against a tree, chuckling up at me.
"You're extremely childish for an eighteen year old, aren't you?" His dark voices asks and I stop spinning.
I tilt my head at him confused, "I'm seventeen."
He sits up slightly, his eyebrows raised in surprise, "You're only seventeen."
I laugh lightly, "Yeah." I put my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath. Why would that matter?
"Is that a problem?" I ask lightly and he shakes his head.
"No it's not." He looks at me puzzled for a second, "I just thought you'd be slightly older."
"Are you calling me young Leo?" A smile creeps its way onto my lips as I giddily stumble towards him. He grabs my waist as I stand over him and pulls me into his lap.
My legs either side of his waist, I take his hand and start running my fingers over his knuckles.
"You know that's not what I meant." He chuckles and I roll my eyes.
I swear I see his hand twitch and bite my lip remembering what he said yesterday. My stomach gets hot and I shake my head to make the feeling go away.
"My birthdays next month anyway." I say trying to move the conversation on. I run the tips of my fingers in between his, feeling the bruised skin on his hands.
"August? When?"
I twirl his hand in mine and scan my eyes over his tattoos, studying them in more depth then the other times I've seen them.
"It's-" my heart stops as for the first time I actually look at the tattoo on the side of his hand.
He looks at me worried, not sure why I've stopped talking. "What's wrong Jade?"
I hold up his hand so I can fully look at it. My mind is racing as he watches me look at the digits.
He seems to stiffen as I look over the ink.
"It's August 15th."
Leo stops dead still.
Something flashes over his eyes. His face turns a deadly shade of white and I start to feel uneasy.
Those are the numbers etched into his skin.
Not the year, but the first two digits. "Leo?" I feel myself panicking as he spaces out, as though he's reliving something.
