"Hari!"
All of the things were covered black and white linen. The maids were dressed in mourning clothes.
"Hali..."
"Nasaan...sila?" My tears streamed down my cheeks. These weren't true! Oh, God!
"Ate!" My room door opened and she came running.
"Careful!" "Hari, you should act like a finesse girl, now. Kaya ka pinapagalitan ni daddy, eh."
She pouted. "Ayoko.
I sighed and caressed her hair. "Kasi may pinapangalagaang reputasyon si dad. Everyone was looking at us with morals and elegance. Okay?"
A girl should act with basic manners and a lady should act like a refined one. While a woman must act elegantly, with sophistication and finesse.
"Ate, read me a bedtime story. I couldn't sleep." She laid down beside me and hugged me warmly.
My tears fell off when I opened my eyes. I dreamed of her just now. Bumangon ako at tumingin sa bedside table and saw our pictures together. Silently, I wept while staring at our photos at the seaside.
"Hari..."
"What? But, why?"
I was saddened seeing her not getting a puppy because of me.
Nilapitan ko siya at pinantayan sa pagkakaupo. "Sorry.
"Bakit?" nakanguso niyang tanong.
"Kasi kinagat ako ng puppy dati, Hari. I almost died." When I was five, I got a pet my godfather had gifted me. But I got bitten because I had stepped on his tail. We didn't know that the puppy hasn't had a vaccine yet. "Kaya huwag ka na magalit, okay?"
Pinunasan ko ang luha niya. "Sige na. Hindi na ako galit." She stood and hugged my neck.
She giggled and planted kisses on my face.
Napahagulgol ako. She's not just a sister to me. Hari was the person closest to my heart. I raised her. I watched her grew. I was the one who took care of her. She's also my best buddy to everything. She's everything to me I would willingly trade my life to get her back to life.
