Writer's POV
Emily waits in the waiting room for news about her mother's health. You know since the car accident. Pam has been in the hospital for over a month now, and it doesn't seem like her leg is healing. Mr. Garcia, the same doctor that treated Alison's brother came out and announced the news to Emily.
"It's a fifty-fifty chance that Pam will be able to walk again. But I can assure you that we'll do our absolute best to change that possibility to a greater chance for her to walk again."
Emily's face expression did not change, it was still like the expressionless face she's making. She looked down on her feet, turned around, walked out of the hospital, got in her car, and walked away.
It's like that horrible feeling that your feeling when everything goes totally the opposite of what you were expecting. And the feeling of being in the state of where you're done with everything.
It's the feeling of hopelessness.
As Emily drives, tears run down her puffy cheeks, she wasn't balling her eyes out, she was simply too broken to let it out. Emily was tired. She was tired of A, tired of being sad, tired of everything. Emily was tired of being tired.
She pulled into her driveway. Lifelessly walked in her house, and went upstairs to her bedroom. She dialed Alison's number..
"Hey babe, what's up?" Alison sounded as happy as she could be.
"It's mom." Emily snapped out of her thoughtless mind and finally her eyes started watering.
"She has a fifty percent chance she'll walk again." Emily continued.
"Emily, it's okay. She's going to be fine, okay. Trust me. God won't let that happen to her. He loves your mom, as much as you love her, maybe even more." Alison was right. She had a point.
"Yeah, well this pain I'm feeling is too much, and I want it to end. So I'm done with this." Emily said.
"Emily, what are you doing, you can't. I'll be right there okay. Just ha-"
Emily hung up right then.
She stood up, walked to the bathroom and searched for something. Something that can change everything.
She found it. She held it in her hand as if it's a grenade, but it's not. It's something painful than that.
She knelt down to the ground, and opened the bottle she was holding in her hand.
Emily took a handful, and was about to digest every single one of them. But she heard someone walk in her house, she remembered she forgot to lock the door.
"Emily?!?" Alison called out. Em can hear footsteps going around her house. She realized that Alison could be looking for her.
As soon as Alison ran upstairs she locked her bedroom door so that Alison wouldn't be able to come in.
"Emily come on. You have to open up, you can't just shut me out!" Alison pleaded.
"I can do whatever I want." She shoots back.
Clearly those words got into Alison's heart. Alison could have easily walked out and let Emily do what she wanted, but in a situation like this, Emily doesn't know what she's saying, so Alison wasn't going to give up on. Ever.
"No, you know what. Emily, I love you. Okay, and I have to be here for you no matter what happens, because that's what I ought to do for the people I love, especially. You."
"You deserve someone better than a broken piece of crap." Emily brings the pills closer to her mouth.
And Alison could hear the noise that the bottle full of pain killers was making. She knew right then what Emily was trying to do. She started knocking on her door so hard that she could have broken her knuckles.
"Leave Alison." Emily shrieks.
"NO! LET ME IN EMILY!" Alison yelled at the top of her lungs.
"I said. LEAVE!" Emily shouted, but her voice sounded so broken.
"And I said No!! I love you!" Alison cried out.
Emily put all of the pain killer pills she was holding in her hand and devoured it all in her mouth. All she needed to do was swallow.
Alison had enough. She backed up and kicked the door down. She rushed to Emily.
"SPIT THAT OUT!" Alison yells as she grabs Emily's cheeks.
Emily shakes her head. She's so stubborn.
"Emily, please. Just let me help you!!!" Alison cried one more time hoping Emily will listen to her.
Emily does nothing. She stares at Alison hopelessly, and whispers "No."
Alison holds Emily's hands. "Please." Last time she said that. Alison looked down, and cried.
Emily realized what her girlfriend was going through. Emily's head slowly turned to the side, and she spit the dozen or more pills out of her mouth onto the bare floor.
"I don't want this for mom. I just don't." Emily spoke up.
Alison looked up, surprised to see the pain killers out of her mouth.
"I know baby. I know. But your life is too valuable to end this way. I know you would die for the person you love, but the better advice is that you love for the person you love. You have to live for your mom. For me."
Emily nodded. The two hug it out.
"I love you." Alison says.
"I love you too." Emily says.
Alison tightens the hug.
"Maybe even more." Emily says.
Alison let out a little chuckle.
