Griffins P.O.V
The sun was setting on the horizon as our three vehicles drove along the wide road with nothing but empty land on either side of us. Most zombies wouldn't come this far out of cities and other areas because of the lack of food but we still have to keep our guard up.I was the only one awake in the car. Kio was asleep beside me and Bryce and Quinton had fallen asleep leaning against each other in the back. I was tired too but I let them sleep because they looked cute.
We had been driving for around three hours since we left L.A and we're almost at the border to Arizona. Once we get to the border we'll find somewhere to rest for the night but for now I have to keep focused on the road.
Since the road had thinned we were no longer driving alongside each other. Out of my wing mirror I could see Jaden's car and behind that was Noah and Blake. I couldn't see into the car to tell if Jaden was still in the driver seat but knowing him they probably hadn't switched because Jaden doesn't want other people to drive his car.
We drove on for another hour in silence. The sky above slowly darkened and I turned my headlights on, the bright beams illuminated the road ahead in a ghostly sort of way.
Kio mumbled something in his sleep and I looked at him and smiled softly. The way he was sleeping looked uncomfortable so I reached over and adjusted his head so his neck wouldn't be in pain when he woke up.
After another twenty minutes the silhouettes of the tall buildings of one of the bordering cities in Arizona came into view. I turned on my inductors, signalling for the boys behind me to pull over. Once they all parked on the side of the road I got out leaving the head lights on and walked over to the other cars.
Jaden and Josh got out of Jaden's car and I was right about Jaden still driving because he got out of the driver side.
"Everyone asleep in your car?" Josh asked and i nodded. "Oh right. Anthony fell asleep in the back and I slept for about an hour and of course Jaden's been to stubborn to let us switch."
"You know Josh it's funny how you didn't even want to get my car back and now you're so desperate to drive it." Jaden said raising an eyebrow.
"Please don't start this again." Josh pleaded but it only seemed to irritate Jaden. I sighed and walked away from the bickering couple and over to Noah and Blake.
"Hey guys." I said and leaned on the open window. Both of them where awake and chatting to each other.
"Hey Griffin, what's going on?" Blake trying to stifle a yawn.
"I wanted to discuss something but those two started-" I looked back at Jaden and Josh who had stopped fighting and were now in the process of eating each others faces off in the middle of the road.
"Oh my god." I put my hand on my face and sighed, "I'm too tired for this."
"I see they made up." Noah laughed.
"Clearly." I replied monotone. I cleared my throat loudly and they pulled apart and looked at us.
"Oh." Josh said blankly and Jaden looked down. If I could see properly in the dark I'd say his face was bright red.
"If you're done, would you mind coming
over here to talk about where we're going to sleep tonight." I said and they walked over to us."Right I think we should sleep in the cars parked here tonight and drive into the city tomorrow. There's very little zombies out here so we won't have to have multiple people as lookout." I said and they nodded. "I'll take first shift and then wake Bryce up and he'll wake one of you up after."
