Blake's P.O.V

(Yeah you read that right)

Why am I not dead.

I'm supposed to be dead. Is this what it feels like, to become a zombie. Am I trapped in my own body.

Noah left when I went quiet and I miss his voice already but if I didn't become quiet he wouldn't leave.

It was so hard to be quiet when I knew I was breaking his heart but I didn't want him to hear me as one of those things because it wouldn't be me.

The tears were still flowing freely down my face and I had to use my free hand to muffle my sobs as his footsteps faded away.

The shelves where pressing down on my body and I couldn't move my left arm. I was in a lot of pain before but it had since gone completely numb.

I peered at my other arm and winced in disgust at the bite mark. It pretty big and was bleeding but not a lot. The zombie had lunged at me and sank its teeth into my forearm just before the shelves fell. When it happened I felt the most fear I've ever felt in my life, more than any close call or bad situation during the apocalypse, because I knew that was it, I was infected.

The dead zombie had begun to rot beside me and it smelled really bad. I almost gasped when I realised zombies have heightened senses so this must be the first stage, but then I remembered that I've never actually smelled a zombie up close before and calmed down a little bit. I must still have some time left.

I tried to remember what Noah had said to me about when they found the cure. I smiled while trying to imagine the date he told me we'd go on, but then I realised it might never happen and my face dropped.

"Maybe I'll see Anthony again." I mumbled to myself. "That would be nice." I said and then let myself cry because I really didn't want to die.

"Why the fuck isn't anything happening! Just get it over with!" I yelled in frustration turning my head to look at my arm. I frowned when I realised that I couldn't actually see any signs of the infection besides the bite.

No purple veins or paler skin. No pain. I felt nothing different, absolutely nothing. Except the weight of the shelves on top of me.

"Why didn't anything happen yet?" I mumbled, confused. Once you get bitten or scratched you turn within ten minutes with signs of infection setting in within the first five minutes. That's how it is, that's how it's always been, so why is nothing happening to me it's been almost over ten minutes. "Is this the universes way of making me suffer. I'm gonna have to lie here for longer because I'm slowly being infected."

It had been around twenty minutes by now since Noah had left and there was still nothing on my arm except the bite.

"Did it not work...?" I wondered aloud. I was so confused as to why nothing happened. Jaden and Josh has said Anthony had purple veins spreading over his body when they had left him and that had been within ten minutes so why was my arm completely normal aside from the zombie mark.

I decided to try and get out from under the shelves. I knew it was going to be hard but I could at least try.

I tried to pull my arm out but it didn't come free so instead I manoeuvred my leg into an uncomfortable position pointed at the back of one of the shelves and used all my energy to kick the back of it out. My foot went through the wood on the third kick and I pulled it back through only to kick the rest of that section away.

Once it was a hole big enough for me to crawl through I turned my attention to my trapped arm. I put my other hand in the gap between the floor and the shelf and pushed as hard as I could but it wouldn't budge. I gave up and decided to try a different approach.
