Jaden's P.O.V
The city came into view and I felt the immediate change of atmosphere in the car.
Griffin didn't slow down so neither did I, keeping my foot firmly pressed on the gas.
"How much time do you think we'll have?" Anthony asked.
"Not long and they might not even believe us." Josh replied.
The skyscrapers loomed high above us as our small fleet of cars entered the outskirts of the city. My hands were beginning to sweat with anticipation so I tried to wipe them on my jeans.
I wasn't quite paying complete attention so I had to slam my foot on the breaks when Griffins car in front of us suddenly slowed down significantly.
"Why is he slowly down?" I mumbled. I craned my neck trying to look in front of the black car. "There's barriers." Josh took the words right out of my mouth when I finally noticed the reason we had come to a complete stop.
The barriers were lined with uniformed guards all with their guns drawn and pointed at us.
"Get out of the car with you're hands in the air!" The supposed chief or guard in charge yelled. I looked to Josh and Anthony and they nodded before opening the car doors and stepping out, doing what the guard had commanded. The others got out and did the same thing until we where all standing in a line with our hands in the air.
The guards looked at all our faces and conversed with each other quietly.
"We know that you're looking for us but first you need to hear us out!" Griffin requested, stepping forward slightly.
"And why would we do that?" One of the guards looked at Griffin like he was some sort of idiot.
"Because otherwise you're all going to die." Griffin said. They all looked at us for a moment in silence before collectively bursting out into laughter.
"What? You and you're little friends are going to kill us?" The guard spoke to us in a tone of voice as if he was speaking to a child.
"No, there's hundreds, if not thousands of zombies headed this way and they're going to get here soon." Bryce stepped forward this time but his words were only rewarded with another round of loud laughter.
"Do you realise how crazy you sound?!" The chief guard spoke. "If that were about to happen we would already have been notified." He said.
Griffin and Bryce were about to protest yet again when suddenly a loud blaring alarm made me wince and cover my ears. We all looked up to see one of the main towers in the centre of the city that was blaring the awful sound.
"Is that a good enough notification?" Bryce smirked at the shocked faces of the guards.
"We have a cure and it's been tested so we know it works. If you're quick enough you can use it on the oncoming zombies and cure them all." Griffin said.
The guards looked at each other before opening the barrier and waving us through. We rushed to comply and followed two of the guards through the city towards the centre.
All around us people where panicking and screaming, assuming the worst from the alarm. None of them knew what was about to come. There was also plenty of military looking people running towards the outskirts of the city with all sorts of guns and weapons.
"Mark? Who are these young men?" A man who was passing by stopped to address one of the guards leading us through the city.he was dressed in an official looking uniform. He was most likely some sort of commander.
"These are the nine individuals, including the two who refused to give up the cure, who have been on the run for the past few months sir." The guard, now known as Mark, replied.
