Nobody's P.O.V
Over the course of around six months all of the American states had gotten rid of every trace of the infection from every last body that contained it. It took longer than many people thought for each state to be declared safe but it was only since nobody wanted there to be any chance of the virus surviving on something.
Many more people that could have been cured were killed but millions were saved. Each person told the same story of being in a living nightmare and feeling so lost. They all woke up in bewilderment. Thousands of families were reunited, either having all been infected and then cured or from one member that had been infected and was brought back.
It became clear after the first few initial tests that the cure was not compatible with animals so it took scientists around two months to create something to cure the animals. They were successful and many house pets were saved as well.
The story of the nine young men that originated in the city of Los Angeles and travelled across America, on the tiny piece of hope that the recorded message from the old radio tower gave them, and delivered a cure that they didn't even know they had until they were almost in the safe zone, that ended up saving the world was a story that had been heard by almost everyone. They had all heard how they had started out thinking that half their friends were dead until a mere few things brought them back together. They heard about how they lost one of them at one point, and that boy was the first ever human to be cured of the disease. They heard how one of them by complete luck was the only human to be immune to the disease and how they had been on the run because that boy was going to be killed for a cure that wouldn't have even saved half of the infected people.
The nine boys that called each other family and had one hell of a story to tell. Those same nine boys were currently staying in a city in Nevada awaiting the go ahead that California had been cleared and they could return to their home.
They're all currently spread out over an old apartment that was never reclaimed when the state of Nevada opened back up so the government had decided to put all the displaced Californians into the large apartment blocks while they waited.
Blake, Quinton and Jaden were laughing about something whilst sat on the large king sized bed. Bryce, Griffin, Noah and Josh were sat on the ground having a conversation that none of the others found interesting enough to join. The final two, Kio and Anthony, were showing each other things on their new phones that had been issued to everyone.
It had been weird at first, getting used to what used to be normal because of the past year and a half or so being so different. Although things were changing for the better it was still difficult.
The boys all stayed in this apartment for around a week before they were given the heads up that California's state borders were set to open in three days so the boys spent their next three days in nervous excitement. Some part of calling it their home felt so foreign after the constant moving they had done during the apocalypse.
The day arrived and all nine of them packed what little stuff they had and packed into the three cars they had kept, the cars had become too sentimental to get rid of so they kept them all of course.
All the cars were filled with happy chatter from the feeling of finally being able to return home after so long and not having the constant fear that something was going to jump out and devour them.
However the talking sort of died down as they entered L.A and it was replaced with anticipation to see their old house.
All three of the cars rolled up to the house in a line and peered up at it. It was just as they had left it. The garage was still open, bringing back memories from the very first night when the five boys had fled their own home to attempt to save the other four without knowing what was in store for their future.
