Noah's P.O.V
"You ready?" I asked Blake as we stepped out of the elevator on the 20th floor of the central building.
"Yeah." Blake said smiling at me. I grabbed his hand and we walked down towards office 16. I knocked on the door and we waited silently as shuffling cane from within and then the door swung open and Dr Mattews' wrinkled face smiled at us.
"Hello. So are you ready to start?" He asked and we both nodded.
"Okay we'll the labs are on floors 10, 11 and 12 but I work on floor 11 so we'll head there. He closed the door behind him and waved his hand for us to follow.
He stepped into the elevator and waited for us to stand in beside him and then pressed the button. The elevator lurched and started moving down. The doors dinged and we stepped out.
This floor was much louder than the others and was full of people walking around with clipboard and lab coats. Blake and I stared at them all as we walked after Dr Mathews who was acting as if this was a normal day to him because it probably was.
I looked at Blake fondly as he stared at all the busy scientists all going about their day in the lab. None of them paid us any attention just like everyone else outside.
"Okay we'll just go in here..." Dr Mathews said and opened a door to a room made entirely of blurred glass. We followed him inside and there were several other scientists inside. They all looked up as we came inside.
"Blake is it?" Dr Matthews asked and Blake nodded quickly.
"Everyone this is Blake, the young man who is immune to the disease." Dr Mathews introduced Blake to the room and they all nodded.
"Hello Blake, sit here please and we'll start preparing for the blood tests." A woman said as she pulled on a pair of latex gloves. Blake sat in the chair she had pointed to and took of his hoodie revealing his bandaged arms.
Another woman came over and started to unreal them and then proceeded to wipe down his arm with what I assumed was an antibacterial wipe.
Blake sat in the chair while all the scientists bustled around him for around half an hour. They did many different tests that were too complicated for me to remember. I sat in a chair at the side of the room and watched the whole time.
"Okay if you two wait here we'll go and get the results. It'll only take a minute." Dr Mathews said.
All but one of the scientists left and the last was only cleaning up before she too exited the room after the others.
"That was... an experience." Blake said and I chuckled.
"Yeah but it's one that'll hopefully save the world." I said and Blake widened his eyes as if he had only just realised how vital it had all been.
We chatted for around twenty minutes, a lot longer that the doctor had said but we didn't mind. I just assumed there was more to learn than what they originally thought.
The door opened and the scientists came flooding back in. The female scientist that had spoken first looked at me. "Sir could you please come with me." She said and I got up and walked outside the door with her.
"Sir-"
"Please call me Noah." I interrupted. She pursed her lips and nodded slowly.
"Well... Noah, we got the results back and we have some good and bad news." She said. I frowned.
"What? Bad news? Will it not work?" I asked and immediately thought of Josh's and Jaden, wondering if their trip back to Arizona and Anthony was utterly useless.
