January 16th
CBS Studios, New York
Jackie sat in her black maternity dress ready for her statement and it was something she would never thought she would have to do.
Eventually, sitting in the leather armchair with the realistic looking background, to make it look like she was sitting in her 5th Avenue apartment, the camera started rolling.
"People of America" Jackie started. The news-team didn't know what she'd have to say, all they knew was this statement was urgent.
"I speak to you in your homes and across the country as there is an announcement I wish to make". Inside, Jackie's heart pounded. She had never been more terrified in her life. But this announcement, even though it was heart-warming, she knew it would send shockwaves across the country.
"In November last year, you will remember the assassination of my husband President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Well, I take this time to announce that earlier that month.." Jackie paused. She took a deep breath and let it out. "Earlier that month, my husband and I discovered that we were expecting our third child".
All of the newsteam behind the cameras were stunned but they had to keep quiet to keep the broadcast running smooth.
"And this child that I am currently carrying is due in August. I understand the shock and for some, the sympathy you may have at this moment but I can assure you that this child will bring light to the family. But we will never forget and will forever preserve the memory and legacy of my late husband. Thank you".
The red light to represent 'recording' faded away and the room was silent. Jackie stood up and addressed the newsmen who were shocked. "I know this is sudden but it's every word the truth". Jackie bowed her head and walked out of the studio.
