I was looking at the ice cubs glinting through my cup as I stirred my iced coffee, my friends talking and laughing in the background.

I was immersed in my clashing thoughts, and felt selfish and guilty for it. It was the first time in a while we gathered like that outside of school. Everyone was busy and stressed. But I just couldn't find the strength to be social.

"Ris? Ris! You daydreaming about your boyfriend again?" Teased Sam as he snapped his fingers in from of my face, making me jump.

I couldn't help but feel annoyed at his comment, it was exhausting to manage the stupid tension between the two of them. Sam didn't have a clue of the true reason behind Ash's dislike for him but he jabbed him back just as much.

"Leave her alone." Scolded Sapph while putting her hand on mine. "You okay?"

"Yeah, don't worry, I was just thinking that it's been a while since we gathered like this." I brushed them off, sipping my coffee to avoid talking.

"Everything's okay with Ash?" said Nat, casting me a worried look.

I didn't tell them about the constant fights, but they understood on their own, after all it was obvious at school and the fact that they don't see us together as much.

I missed the days when the mention of my boyfriend brought me pure joy and love, now it was tainted with a bitterness that I couldn't get past no matter how much I try.

"It's okay I guess, we're stressed that we're going to different colleges, that's all." I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. I wasn't letting my friends judge my relationship, I was doing it enough for all of us.

She nodded, then turned to continue talking to Aiden about a new video game launching.

And I went back to my bubble.
