time passed and love continued to blossom between the couple.
no one other than taeil discovered about their forbidden union, and yet, mark and donghyuck kept seeing each other every single day of summer break.
either they would find a nick of time to cross paths in the streets near somewhere hidden and have a full make-out session – now that donghyuck was more comfortable about it – or mark would come at donghyuck's house at night, just like he had done for their first monthversary.
and well, even if all this looked like they were doing something bad, they enjoyed the small amounts of time they could spend together.
they were falling deeper and deeper for each other.
mark couldn't spend a day without feeling donghyuck's body against his.
donghyuck couldn't live without mark's touch for a day.
they craved for each other.
and most important, they needed to tell the world who they belonged to.
but they couldn't.
"how was your day, sweetie?" donghyuck's mother asked his son while passing the plate to her husband.
donghyuck thought about the past events.
his day? well, wonderful.
he had helped chenle rearranging his library and then, mark and him had had a date at 'rainbow café' which had ended by a full make-out session inside jungwoo and lucas' living room – yeah, those two knew about their relationship as well, but let's say they were there from the beginning.
anyways, it had been magical.
"it was good. chenle and i rearranged the books of his library." donghyuck explained. "he had a huge one, it took us a lot of time. and i had to move some heavy books, i'll have big muscles, i'm sure." he added, flexing his biceps.
his father laughed. "yeah, surely."
"well, that's good if you could help." his mother smiled. "did you see interesting books?"
"hmm. chenle reads a lot of fiction... and-" donghyuck said.
"and you prefer romance. we know." his dad completed.
"yeah. so, the few romance books he had in his library, i had already read them."
"but don't all books have a romance story?" donghyuck's mother asked.
donghyuck rolled his eyes.
he felt like he always had the same conversations with his parents.
how could two beings who didn't like to read have a son so passionate about reading?
"mom." donghyuck sighed. "i already told you... not every book has a love story. it sometimes is a secondary or ternary plot. for example, in thrillers or fantasies."
"why don't you like them then?"
"because i want the love story to be the main problem of the book. i want it to be the main plot."donghyuck explained. "and i don't want it to be a simple and childish love story. i don't want the heroes to fall in love and get together without any complications. i want everything to get difficult and i want the characters to suffer before earning the love they deserve."
his father looked at him perplexed.
"you are a weirdo, donghyuck." he said.
"wait for you to find a boyfriend, sweetie. you'll see you'll wish for it to be the simplest possible." his mother added. "no one wants a love story like romeo and juliet."
donghyuck internally snorted.
'no one wants one, but i do have one.'
"yea- "
"talking about which..." his mother cut him.
donghyuck tensed on his chair.
what was she going to talk about?
could she know about mark coming to his room at night? impossible. she wouldn't have been this calm.
what could it be then?
had she someone to show to him? eww! that was a big no.
"...where does that bracelet come from?" she asked, eying the thin black bracelet on which was attached the golden 'M' mark had offered him a week ago for their monthversary.
he never took it off.
the necklace was a bit too present to be worn outside, so mark and him had agreed to let donghyuck wear it when mark and donghyuck were alone together only.
but that wasn't the case for the bracelet. it was like a part of him now.
he didn't really care if people saw it. he could always lie – even though he still didn't know how to lie.
but to his parents?
"someone offered it to me." he replied.
"someone?" his father joined the conversation. "why a 'M' though? stop me if i'm wrong, but your name is 'lee donghyuck'."
"it's a 'M' for 'mark'." he explained.
his two parents furrowed their brows. "mark? who's mark?"
donghyuck bit his bottom lip nervously.
was he about to make a mistake?
surely.
"he's my boyfriend." he announced, gaze fixed on the bowl of rice.
there was a suffocating silence around the table.
"your what?" his father broke it.
"m-my boyfriend."
"since when?"
"a bit more than a month."
the room became silent again.
but this time, his mother broke it.
"that's good donghyuck!" she exclaimed.
"huh?"
"congratulations." his father flashed him a smile.
"what?! b-but...? you're not mad?" donghyuck asked taken aback by their reaction.
"why would we be? our baby is growing!" his mother smiled brightly. "we're so happy for you!"
"we hope he's taking good care of you."
"huh... yeah, of course." he nodded.
"great. then when you'll be ready, it will be a pleasure for us to meet the boy that makes our son's heart flutter."
and damn. donghyuck had gotten himself in deep trouble.
