CHAPTER 34

SUDDEN

I'm still half asleep as I turn to the other side of the bed. I know I'll be fully awake any minute now but I kept my eyes shut, hoping I could still get a few more hours of rest.

I'm almost back to dreaming when I felt an arm on my waist, pulling me into a backhug. Before I can open my eyes, I had already felt a hot breath on my neck. My eyes popped open when I realized that it's Zin hugging me.

"Sh*t!" I whispered. Of course, he'll be here!

Hindi muna ako gumalaw habang nakikiramdam ako kung tulog pa ba si Zin o hindi. Please stay asleep.

I guess luck is not on my side this morning. Just when I was hoping not to wake him up, my phone suddenly rang. FREAAAKKKKK!!!!

Dahan-dahan akong lumayo nang kaunti kay Zin upang tignan siya. Fortunately, he looks like he's in a deep sleep. He's even snoring a little.

Agad kong inalis ang braso niya mula sa bewang ko. Then I almost ran towards my purse. Pinulot ko iyon mula sa sahig at sinagot ang telepono habang tahimik na pumapasok sa CR.

WHY IS IT SO DAMN COLD??? Oh right, I'm naked. Stupid Caylee!

Kinuha ko ang bathrobe na nakasampay sa gilid at sinuot iyon bago 'ko sinarado ang takip ng toilet bowl at umupo doon.

"Hello?"

"Why aren't you answering your phone? Kanina pa kami tawag ng tawag sa'yo!"

I can't believe I didn't hear all the rings. Ano 'yon, tulog na tulog talaga ako? Napagod yata talaga ako ng husto kagabi. Hindi naman kasi ako tulog mantika unless ubos na ubos ang energy ko.

"Sorry. I just woke up, Ma. Is there something wrong?"

Our parents are not supposed to be calling us while we're here on the island. They had an agreement with Senyor that this retreat will keep the Elites from any family connections, to avoid stress. Ina-update naman kasi sila ng mga staff upang hindi sila magaalala.

"You need to go home now. Nakausap na namin si Senyor and he agreed to help you get off the island. A car will be waiting for you and your driver will drive you to the airport."

"Airport? But why? Mamaya pa pong hapon ang uwi namin, Ma. I still have to attend the brunch party and the closing ceremony later."

"Your Tita Britney and Tito Dan got into an accident. They're both at the emergency room as we're speaking. Please anak."

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko at bigla akong kinabahan. Halata sa boses ng nanay ko na kakagaling niya lang sa pag-iyak.

"Are they okay?"

"Hindi pa namin alam. Nakikibalita lang din kami kaya nga kailangan mo ng umuwi para mapuntahan na natin sila. Walang kasama ang mga pinsan mo doon, Caylee. They're only with their maid and the driver. Hindi ko kayang ipagkatiwala lang ang mga pamangkin ko sa kanila."

"What about my clothes? And my things?"

"It's all been taken care of."

"Sige po. Just give me a few more minutes. Maliligo lang po ako."

"You can take a shower on our private plane."

I almost groaned loudly. I badly need the shower considering the fact that I feel very icky. Gosh, she'll kill me if she'd known what I did a few hours ago.
