Drills, to be exact, earthquake drills.

It's somewhat of a staple around any high school activities. It's meant to make the students well prepared but here's the thing; we just don't really listen to it.

There are five types of students when it comes to executing an earthquake drill. One is those students who do it with so much passion and the other type would be the complete opposite of it, nonchalant in the face of danger or the lack of it. The third type would even munch on with their food and is shameless enough to buy in the canteen. The rest are those who act like a vlogger and takes pictures all the time while the rest would climb on the wall after the drill.

Now, as I wander my eyes around the area, I could see all types of students as well as knew which type I am. I don't particularly care since earthquake drills had always been practiced in school and I think I can already tell you the drills themselves even with my eyes closed.

"Want some?" One of my classmates offered me his food while I shook my head.

"I want some" Hanie said and didn't even wait for the poor guy's response and took a mouthful of chips in her hands.

I laughed at the guy's expression of having stolen it in the middle of the day. Hanie bumped into me and motioned for me to take some so I did.

Well, that was a bit mean but wasn't I always?

Then I notice him, you know, that sporty popular guy looking at me. When our eyes met, he smirked while I rolled my eyes out before looking at my friends.

The five of us, along with him, were huddled on the ground in the middle of the afternoon. My whole body sweated from the heat even though it's already the month of September.

It's supposed to be cold now! I mean it's ber- month so I guessed I'll be hearing a lot of jingle bells, another staple song you hear out in the streets, or other Filipino Christmas songs that ABS-CBN made. Either way, the Philippines have always been on the hot side and the weather in here is so fickle.

"It's so hot today!" I groaned info frustration with a frown etched on my face.

"My fault, sorry for that"

I glared at Willmark and harrumphed. Cocky jerk, well he is indeed handsome but who cares? It's not like I'm one of those girls, I'm not that thirsty towards guys and I certainly am not a naive student who does not know about the topic of love.

I mean if you consider reading love stories on Wattpad and watching romantic movies is enough experience to be called an expert of the emotion love then so be it.

My friends on the other side giggled as they continued to talk to Willmark. They teased him a lot and I could see the infatuated eyes from one of my friends and held back the urge to shake some sense into her head.

Anyway, after half a minute or so, the practiced drill stopped and we're soon walking towards our class.

"Willmark! You're excused for today"

Out teachers shouted his name, he stood up and took his bag along with him before getting out of the classroom. I catch a glimpse of him running towards the school court. That's when I notice him high-fiving other players before pulling his shirt off which made me avoid my eyes.

I didn't blush sorry to inform you.

I almost forgot about that, the intrams are here and VMNHS would be the venue. Some students from other schools will come here and match with us. I'm sure everyone would love to watch the games, after all, every Filipino loves watching sport.

I didn't manage to think more about that when another lesson popped out. Seems like the midterms are just around the corner.

Now, I really have to focus.

...

A week only dedicated to Intrams and we still have a class on that week. Let's just say that almost all of the students were feeling disappointed when their advisers told us the news. It means we wouldn't be able to watch the games and also the others wouldn't have the chance to leave school.

I was feeling a bit regretful since I would also love to watch the games. I love watching volleyball and basketball the most, those two games were the highlights of the week.

"I want to watch" Hanie murmured on her desk.

"Me too" Tintin muttered as the rest of the students mope around the class, feeling dejected at the news.

Then it's as if they were injected with energy booze and were soon sitting up straight with their eyes fully focused on the desk.

Oh- it's our history teacher and apparently, another teacher informed us that she can't attend the class since she's sick. She also told us that we're free to watch the game but only in her time and left us.

All my classmates celebrated and some had run towards the court with their friends. I didn't wait for another second and got out of the class.

Perfect.

The basketball game is about to start and our basketball team is about to have a match with Guronasyon's basketball team.

"Their players are huge!" Bool exclaimed as I nodded in response to him, eyes surveying the other players which were truly enormous.

I had also noticed that almost all of the students in gurunasyon were tall and looking at our side, there are just three players on the massive side. It doesn't matter, height isn't all that matters in basketball, having a skill is.

"The game is about to begin! Let's find a place where we can see the game clearly!" Tintin said as she made us come over to the other side of the court.

Thankfully, before we came here there weren't a lot of students but now, it's like a dam had flooded over and circled the entire court.

We were squished and pushed but we managed to get a good place to watch the game. The ventilation was very poor but hey, we're outside but then I have to breathe in everyone's perfume and sweat-filled selves.

Soon, that game has begun and my eyes were filled with nothing but enthusiasm for the game.

Notes:

Climb on the wall or what we call cutting in class, means you're not going to attend the rest of your class and will be off to do whatever you want on that day.
