Midnight

(noun)

mid·night\ˈmid-ˌnīt\

: the middle of the night
: 12 o'clock at night

°°°
It's currently eight forty in the evening, the night was cold as I sat on our couch with a pillow on my body. I wiggled my sock covered toes and listened to Ally talking about her day.

It's almost nine and I had yet to sleep, it's fine since it's a weekday and I had finished all the assigned school works today.

I could hear the laughter from my friends to be exact, my childhood friends. We've been together for like forever and we've done a lot of things and experience so much. They've seen me in my most embarrassing and gorgeous state, know the in and out of our house, practically knew me all my life.

It's just another day for us, having nightly conversations with snacks all over the table that we'll soon be scolded in the next morning. Sometimes we would just talk till midnight until one of my siblings would come down and shush us, we would act like drunkards and shoo them before chattering non stop again.

"How's yours Jamie?"

I was soon out of my stupor when I heard my cousin saying my name.

"Oh... it's fine, there's nothing exciting about my day"

"Oh really~ I highly doubt that" Christian, my cousin said and soon, I glared at him vehemently, eyeing his future actions.

"What? What happened?"

Their eyes were focused to him and me, even if they don't ask, just by the look in their eyes I knew they want him to continue. I cursed him in my mind so hard I knew my mother would definitely slap me in my mouth.

"Well~ Let's just say I've seen him with a boylet on the streets and they look-" I immediately took action and slap my hand into his mouth to prevent him from dying more ridiculous things.

"Hahaha, that's so funny, that's just my classmate. You're so green minded!" I gritted my teeth before sparing him another glare that would definitely bore into his head and turn to them. "Don't mind him, he's just not in the right head"

They didn't look convinced and I almost cursed from this situation. I really didn't want them to know about my crush, if they knew it's game over.

When friends knew that you have a crush, they would do everything by hook or by crook, they will find him. If they finally know him, they would do everything to make it more obvious than ever and would possibly create embarrassing situations that would make you wish you could wring all of their necks.

"Jamie, we're friends right?"

"Yeah, how could you not tell us about him"

"Girl I didn't know you already have a guy beside you"

My head spins from all their accusations and I knew it'll just get worse if I didn't tell them about him. So I did, and I'm not sure if it's something I'll regret in the future, let's just hope its not.

"Um... so he's my classmate and he-"

"You like him! I knew it! I just knew-" Christian screamed like crazy before I smother him with my pillow.

"Shut up or I'll shoot you down!" I heaved in anger and continued. "He's my crush okay?" I said exasperated, still looking at the unstable Christian before continuing. "He's a kind and playful guy.... he's also a basketball player-"
