After a very long procession of just students walking one by one till they reach their seats ended, we can finally seat after the head teacher motioned for us to seat.

I slightly massaged my legs while the head teacher continued to give instructions. So after the very long procession, we can sit and just have to wait until the head teacher finished his speech and then what we feared has finally come, standing straight till our legs ache and till the song ended that would definitely make our voice sore.

The tune started and instantly, we were bombarded with the loud speaker. I grimaced in pain and immediately rubbed my ear to relieve from the sudden blast of sound.

"Sing! I can't hear your voices!" One of the P.E. teacher shouted in her lapel as she walked around with her hands on her hips.

"-lingkod sa inang bayan, lalawigan kang tangi tangi..."

The feminine voice belonging to girls mixed with the low pitched voice from the boys, though it does sound decent compared to what I expect, it still is too tiring to hear.

We didn't finished the song before we were cut, one teacher came to the stage and told us.

"Sing it again! I didn't hear those people in the back sing so sing it again! Remember, if I notice someone is not singing, we'll redo this from the start, do you understand?"

She's the music teacher her glasses were making her look more strict than ever as she stood atop of the stage.

Groans and murmurs rang from the court, I personally think we'll repeat this for like three times, I hope not but it's a hunch that I knew would happen very likely.

Then the teacher motioned for the sound operator and repeated the song from the start.

"Rizal, Rizal mabuhay! Pangunahin kang lalawigan...."

Our start was fine, it was loud and clear like what they wanted us to sound like but then when it comes to the middle part, I can hear the voice being rated by the loud sound from the speaker. We didn't sound like a human anymore but instead resembles that more of a child babbling, it was too hard to listen to.

"Again! From the top!"

We sung five times, five freaking times with the same song and same lyrics. I'm beginning to hate this poor innocent song but what can we do? We sung our hearts out and I feel my throat constricting from pain.

We finished the song, thankfully without getting interrupted again by the music teacher. This time, we managed to sing the whole song and was given a break, thank goodness!

The chairs were moved as we surged out of the court, I held Hanie's hands as she stood there limply. We quickly finished our food and leaned on each other's shoulders, we didn't chat as usual and looked like we were sapped out from energy.

Bool was about to lean towards me but I immediately moved his face away from me.

"Don't you dare, you smell of anghit!"

"What?" He looked at me with unrestrained shock before continuing. "How dare you say that?!"

I just gave him a glare before squinting my eyes like a pleased cat on Tintin's lap. All the girls were leaning on each other while the guys can only lean on the wall.

My eyes wandered around as I try to find Willmark, I haven't seen him today since he's too far from me and my sight is beginning to blur from all that reading. Of course not by reading academic books and studying like crazy, it's because of reading Wattpad even though the night had already deepen plus the midnight conversations with him.

"We won't see each other so often after this" Tintin said out of the blue, I blinked at her before agreeing in my head.

She's right, we would be far away from each other, studying different things and having new set of friends. Our graduation is just around the corner, memories that we created in this school would be replaced by new ones.

"Don't worry, we can always chat with each other" Hanie replied to Tintin as Allan agreed with a nod.

Evan was busy with his phone before but now he was staring at the air with a thoughtful look on him. The playful duo was playing games quietly, Enard was just staring at us.

"We can always go to Jamie's" Bool interrupted the emotional air surrounding us.

Just with that, the cloudy atmosphere vanished and was replaced with a sunny mood and instantly, everyone became cheerful as if nothing had happened.

"Want some?" I looked on my right side and saw a hand in front of me with a mentos placed on its palm, I looked upwards and saw Willmark with a smile on his face.

I immediately sat up and arranged my hair before taking it shyly, I peeked underneath my lashes and found that my friends were either chatting with each other or preoccupied with their phones. I sighed in relief before placing the mentos on my lips, it was sweet and cold, just enough to ease some soreness in my throat.

"Thanks" I muttered while he sat beside me.

We just watched the flurry of students as they walked in every direction, someday we wouldn't see that again, someday we would be in a different place. The silence wasn't deafening instead it was comforting, it feels peaceful amidst the busy people.

"I hope we can finish this practice without repeating again"

"Magdilang anghel ka sana" I earnestly wished his words would come true.

He chuckled in response, with a soft smile in his face, he lowered his head and whispered.

"Genie will make do his best to make your wish come true" I giggled at his playful words before it was interrupted with the announcement that we should return to our places.

I smiled at his way and turned to the other side, the chairs were messily placed into different places, it took some time till we started out practice.

His words did came true, I think it was also the fact that every students wanted this torture- I mean practice to end. We did a good job and making sure our song were loud and clear and sustained the previous voice till we reach the end of the song.

We finally finished our practice and I couldn't wait to sleep. My body's aching from standing in a very long time, my throat hurts from the continuous singing and I just can't wait to get home and rest for like a whole day.

Finally, home! Nothing can beat the comforts that our home brings!

Notes:

• The lyrics from the first song is Rizal Mabuhay it is the official hymn of Rizal province and is usually sung in the flag ceremony and graduation.
Anghit, body odour, particularly stinks in the underarm.
Dilang anghel means wishing that something that was said comes true. Dila means tongue while anghel is your Tagalog word for angel. This idiom literally means 'angel tongue.'
