The moment the referee whistled, the game begun and everyone in the bleachers shouted with hoots and cheers. My slightly sore throat left the back of my mind and I was seen shouting loudly amidst the ocean of people who're doing the same as me.
Some of our classmates brought the leftover 1.5 coke bottle and slammed it together creating a drum like sound. My feet keep tapping on the ground as I watched the game with outmost focus.
The game started with everyone's enthusiasm, it was after all a bit intense since there are three players playing in the court. It was a very highly anticipated game and from that, the gymnasium was almost full and every students have their own bottle of coke to cheer up the players.
"Go number seven!"
"Go my baby loves!"
"Go Alissa's boyfriend!"
A lot of girls were screaming out their lungs as they shout for their favorite player, some had even mentioned one's crush. Even my friends were playfully shouting for our classmate, as if it'll make them more active in the game.
It's already ten minutes since the game started and the players inside the court were already sweating from the heat and the game.
The scores were just one apart from each other though we're leading, because of that our class president decided to cheer up our players.
"Tell the person on your side to shout go Aguinaldo after I count one to three" it was passed to everyone and soon, we watched her count and simultaneously shouted.
"Go Aguinaldo! Go Aguinaldo! Go, go, go!"
Of course the other section decided to copy us and the whole gymnasium rumbled with each other's chant.
"Go Bonifacio, go go go!"
"Go Aguinaldo! Ah!"
It's like it's not just the players below are having a match but also the two sections. Then we all got infuriated when we see one of the players in the opposing team didn't get a foul when he clearly pushed one of our players.
"Luto! Luto ang laban!"
"That referee is bias!"
"Buwaya!"
We all shouted our complaints but he didn't even spared us a glance and continued the game. It got to the point that we were boiling in rage when we notice that the opposing team got more free shoots when our team didn't even get at least three of it.
"He's too much!" I grit my teeth in anger and glared at the student referee.
"Yeah! But that's fine, were still leading thanks to Willmark!" Evan said with glee in his voice as another point was added in our team.
The opposing team wished for time out and as soon as that happened, almost everyone in the class went to the team's side.
I watched Willmark as he wiped his sweat with his towel and chugged a full bottle of water. It seems like he's too burn out from the game, he must be tired now plus his teammates from the opposing team weren't so bad too.
It feels like a second had just passed when the game continued. We all sat on the bleachers, some of my classmates were even laying on the hard cold floor while I grimaced from the dirt and dust their clothes would have and continued to watch the game.
It finished and we soon turned to congratulate our classmates who played in the game, alas, we had won. The victorious smile from our faces burned everyone's sight as they congratulated everyone.
Fortunately, the game finished just before it hit the five o'clock arm. Me and my friends immediately walked over the gates, I returned home with a very sore throat but it didn't really mattered after all we won.
I washed up before I could roll on the soft comfort of my bed after all the gymnasium wasn't really the cleanest place in the school.
"Jamie, can you come with me this Saturday to your brother's workplace tomorrow? We'll celebrate my birthday there and your brother wanted me to come"
I almost forgot, it's my mom's birthday this Saturday. I nodded at her and was about to walk upstairs when she called for me again.
"Yes mom? Is there anything else?" I cleared my throat before asking since my throat hurts from all that shouting.
"Let Willmark come with us"
"I'll tell him that" then I turned back while my mom busied herself in the kitchen.
The smile from my lips stretched till it reaches my ears, I couldn't even stop it. I bounced on my bed and shut my eyes, we won, he must be very happy now. I rolled on my side and took my phone from the table and messaged him.
Congratulations on winning! I knew you'd win! Oh- don't be too egoistic or else you're head will get bigger and bigger! Also, mom wants you to come with us this Saturday, are you free?
Then I hit send and waited with great anticipation then a ding immediately came, I read his message with a smile.
You're welcome, I heard you cheering for us though I wish I could hear you cheering for me, just me.
Ps. I'm always free, tell that to tita.
This guy- he never really ceased the right moment to flirt with me. Ah, how could he be this flirtatious, I really ought to hit him so he can be sane again.
Also, how come he have a very good relationship with my mother, hm, it's too much. Well, I think you're thinking ridiculously again Jamie, acting jealous of your mother, you really a really are a fool in love.
Sleep, we still have tomorrow's game.
I smiled at his sweet consideration, I think he's too considerate and gentle. He's a very troublesome fella but everyone would agree that he's a very considerate and gentle type of guy at times.
Goodnight, see you tomorrow, good luck on your game tomorrow! Fighting!
I slept with a smile etched on my face, the weariness and anger from earlier had vanished with just a single message from him.
Really, I think I really like him.
Notes:
• Luto ang laban, the game is already preditermined and that the game has already it's winner.
• Buwaya , a corrupt person. Literally means alligator. Usually referred by media men to corrupt senators, governors and city mayors.***
