Part #2-The Car Ride

When Techno got the call from Tommy's school, he already knew what had happened. He walked into the too-familiar halls to find his brother in the nurse's office. Grabbing his stuff, he leads the boy to his car.

"Tommy, you gotta stop getting into fights. You're still young, you need to-"

"Stop treating me like a child! I could have walked home, I'm old enough to take care of myself!" Tommy stopped walking and intended to not move any further.

With a sigh, Techno turned to face him and internally winced, Is this really what I put Dad through? he recalled what his father said to him, rewording it. "Tommy, you have a wonderful future in front of you. You have to learn that violence isn't always the answer. I know what you're going through and I don't want you to end up like me." full of regrets he added to the end mentally.

"I'm a man, not a child!"

"And soon you'll wish it was the other way round. I know I do."

"Well, maybe you've just wasted your life, unlike what I'll be like." He instantly regretted saying that when Techno's demeanor changed. There was a flash of something in his eyes before he turned his back to Tommy again.

"We're going home. Now." Techno commanded, and this time Tommy followed without question.

The car ride home was deathly silent, and Tommy felt horrible. He'd never seen Techno get actually angry and he didn't want to see it ever again. "Techno- I.. I'm sorry for what I said.." Tommy's apology was met with a glance in the mirror, so he continued, "I say stupid things when I'm angry, you know that. I didn't mean it.." there was only more silence, "Techno please..."

The car pulled into the driveway and was parked, "We're here." Techno said gruffly and promptly headed outside, leaving Tommy to truly think about what he'd done.
