Holiday Drama

Holidays were supposed to be fun. It was a time when families from all over can reunite and catch up. However, as Phil watched his sons break into an argument, he wasn't so sure about that.

"You let Tommy get a job?" Techno looked at Wilbur and Phil, anger in his eyes, "The whole point was that he didn't need to get a job."

"He's mature enough," Wilbur moved closer to Tommy.

Phil watched Niki take Tubbo's hand, "Fundy, how about you show us around town for a bit?" The arguing stopped for a moment as Fundy agreed.

"You guys can use my car," Wilbur said and tossed Fundy the keys. The brothers waited for the sound of the door closing and an engine starting before they continued.

"He's a child, Wilbur. He has a whole life ahead of him to work." Techno looked around and looked at Phil, "Right?"

Phil went to start, but Tommy beat him to it, "Maybe you should consult the 'child' who is right here! Don't I get a say in this?"

Techno hesitated, "Tommy, you're still young. You don't need to be working-"

"I'm not a fucking child, Techno! I- I can do things too!"

"You're not an adult, you're not paying your own taxes, and you're most definitely aren't paying for your own place. You are legally and mentally a child," Techno snapped at him, something he hadn't done in a few years. He saw Tommy start to tear up and he calmed himself, "Look, I don't think you're incapable of working. It's just too early."

"You're such a hypocrite! You were working when you were my age! I wouldn't have to do any of this if you hadn't left for New York! You abandoned us!" Tommy screamed at Techno as Wilbur wrapped his arms around him, tears streaming down Tommy's face.

"Tommy, please calm down," Wilbur shot a glare at Techno, who was promptly led away by Phil, the two starting to argue as well, "He genuinely means well, but he just has a different mindset."

"I hate him! I hate him! I hate him so much!" Tommy screamed and struggled to escape from Wilbur's embrace, "He's such a hypocrite and a liar and I hate him!"

"Tommy, if you act like this then you're only proving to him that you're a child," Wilbur felt Tommy register his words and he calmed down, "I- He's right though. You shouldn't be at a job, you should be catching bees with Tubbo, or fishing with Fundy, or even picking flowers with Niki."

Tommy looked at him, the tears slowly falling, "I'm trying to help you guys. Does he not see that?"

"Techno tends to overburden himself so the people around him don't have to. It's not that he doesn't appreciate you working, he doesn't like that he's not doing enough," Wilbur flinched at the sound of a door slamming shut. Phil came into the room quietly and both Wilbur and Tommy got up to hug him.

The holidays didn't seem that great to Phil anymore.
