The door softly clicked closed as Tubbo tossed his stuff next to the spare bed. He looked around the room and softly groaned, falling onto the sheets. He rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling, listening to Niki walk around a bit before eventually going to her room.

He picked up his phone and opened his message history with Techno, hesitating. He typed out a goodnight and sent it, nervously waiting for a reply. His heart started to race as Techno opened it and began typing, before stopping.

Tubbo stared at his screen for a minute, waiting for him to continue. When that didn't happen, he turned his phone off and set it down on the nightstand, starting to cry.

Niki looked at the time nervously. Tubbo was spending almost all his time outside or in his room, really only coming to take his food. She drummed her fingers on the kitchen table, glancing at the time. The sun was already disappearing behind the trees and Tubbo still hadn't come inside.

She looked down at her cold plate as the sun dipped below the horizon and the door opened. Tubbo looked at her and froze, the cold breeze shutting the screen door closed.

"Mom, you didn't have to wait for me," Tubbo mumbled as he stepped inside, closing the door, "I was just gonna eat in my room..."

"I was hoping we could eat together. Go ahead and sit down, I'll-"

"On second thought, I'm really not hungry. I'll just go to bed," Tubbo said, shoving his hands in his pockets as he walked down the hall.

"Tubbo, we need to talk."

Forcing a smile onto his face, he turned and looked at her, "I'm tired, Mom. Can we talk later?"

"No, we're talking now. Sit down," Niki said firmly. Tubbo hesitated before walking back over and sitting down. He fiddled with his napkin as Niki reheated her plate and set his down in front of him. They sat in silence for a bit, Tubbo trying to eat as fast as possible. Niki watched him glance around the room before looking back at her. She sighed and set down her fork.

"Tubbo, Dad told me what happened and he wanted me to talk to you about it-"

"I'm fine."

She paused and collected her thoughts, "Tubbo... It's just- We both- Your dad's sorry for how he talked to you."

"Okay."

Niki looked down and fiddled with her glass, "I just wanted to know how you got... them."

"Dad gave them to me..."

Her eyes shot up as Tubbo folded his napkin, "He- He gave them to you?"

"He gave them to me to throw away and I didn't throw them away," Tubbo mumbled.

"You should know better, Tubbo. Look at your dad! Smokings horrible for you and-"

Tubbo huffed, crossing his arms, "Why do you get to decide what's good for me? I didn't ask for your opinion."

"I'm your mother, Tubbo!"

"You're not my mom, Niki! You're just some lady who helped me one day and forced her way into my life!"

Niki froze, tears flooding to her eyes, "W-What?"

Tubbo looked at her and stood up. He quietly left, slamming his door closed behind him. Niki flinched at the glass shattering that followed, walking over and quickly cleaning the now broken picture frame.
