Part 38- Coming home

It was moving day, again. This time, however, only Tubbo was moving. He was coming home. Techno and Tubbo had stayed with Niki for a little bit while the rest of their family slowly helped Tubbo move his stuff home.

After a few days of intentionally slow moving, Tubbo said goodbye to his bee friends and Niki, he got into the taxi with Techno.

Tubbo was a little sad going home, he was going to miss his bee friends. He couldn't wait to go back to school and tell all his friends about the bees, though. He knew Techno was worried about school though.

Techno was beyond worried about school. He was debating on pulling Tubbo out and homeschooling him or putting him in a new school, but he knew the boy would miss his friends. He was pulled out of his thoughts when Tubbo tugged on his sleeve, "What's up, Tubs?"

"Stop thinking so hard about school, we can figure it out later," Tubbo looked at Techno with a slight smile.

Techno hummed, "Was it really that obvious? It's an important issue, Tubs. It's better to be solved early than wait."

Tubbo frowned and crossed his arms, "Fine, I want to stay at my current school, regardless of their opinions."

Techno sighed, "I'm just worried that they'll pull something like that again or they'll single you out. I don't want this following you around."

"Then I can go to a new school if they do something. I won't mind, but I think we should give them a chance," Tubbo smiled as Techno thought it over.

"You really are a sweet kid, Tubbo. We'll give them one more chance. If they do anything, you come to me straight away, ok?"

Tubbo nodded, "I got it."

Techno smiled and ruffled his hair as they pulled up to their apartment. Getting out, he signaled to the face in the window as it ducked out of view. He took the final bag from Tubbo's hand and followed him upstairs.

Techno set the bag down and opened the door into the dark apartment, "After you Tubs."

Tubbo walked in confused when the lights suddenly flicked on and everyone popped out, "Welcome home Tubbo!" He screamed and ran back to Techno, before realizing what happened and turning red.

Everyone burst into laughter and Techno led him back in, sitting him down at the dining room table. They played games until Niki arrived with a box.

"Welcome home, Tubbo," she smiled and opened the box to show off a bee cake.

Tubbo gasped and ran up to hug her, "I love him! I don't want to eat him!" Everyone laughed again and Tubbo got the first slice. He sat down on Technos lap, happily eating the cake and listening to Techno and Wilbur talk.

His eyes widened as Techno stole a bit of his slice, "Hey!" He looked up at the smug face and put on a pout, "That was not very nice of you."

Techno laughed, "If I didn't love you, I would have just taken the whole plate rather than a bite." While Tubbo's eyes were facing upwards, Wilbur leaned over and stole a bite as well.

"Hey!" Tubbo looked at him and got up, "I'm going to sit with Grandpa Phil and Uncle Tommy," he left with a smile as the pair laughed and continued on with their conversation.

Tubbo found Tommy and Fundy sitting together playing on a Switch, so he sat and watched.

Tommy groaned loudly as he lost to Fundy for the third time, "You're rigging it, I swear. There's no way I'm this bad at Mario Kart."

Fundy just grinned, "Well I actually have my driver's license, so maybe that's playing a big part."

Tommy looked at Tubbo, who had been watching them for awhile, "Do you want to play too?"

Tubbo nodded and Fundy grabbed the extra controller and helped Tubbo get set up. After a couple of races and the adults crowding around to watch, Tubbo had just barely beaten Fundy by one race, which Fundy intentionally let him win, and Tommy sulked in last.

"Wow Tommy, for our uncle you are being very immature," Fundy smirked.

"Alright, move out of the way, nerds. It's time for me to destroy Uncle Wil in Mario Kart," Techno grinned as Wilbur took him up on the challenge, Phil joining in for fun.

Tubbo hugged his victorious Dad as Techno, of course, sweated the entire game and destroyed the other two. It was getting late and Tubbo was starting to feel the effects.

"Tired, Tubs?" Techno looked at him as he handed Fundy the controller.

"Yeah, I'm pretty tired from cheering you on," Tubbo yawned.

"There's one more surprise. Think you can stay awake for it?" Techno smiled as Tubbo perked up.

"I can stay awake for it, yeah," he said and got up to follow Techno, confused when he stopped at Tubbo's bedroom door.

"Well? Go on in," Techno smiled, "Everyone worked really hard on it for you."

Tubbo opened the door and his eyes were immediately drawn to the walls next to his bed. There were both hand drawn and stenciled bees that were flying over his bed. He looked at Techno before running to hug everyone.

Techno smiled as he closed the door behind him, giving Tubbo and him some time alone, "Did you have fun?"

Tubbo nodded as he got into bed, already changed into his pjs, "I wish they could all stay longer."

Techno moved Tubbo's desk chair next to his bed, "Yeah, me too. What do you want me to read tonight?"

"Hmm... Can I read you a story instead?" Tubbo sat up and readjusted his pillows.

"Yeah, if you want to. What am I being read tonight?" Techno watched Tubbo get up and leave the room to come back with Techno's unfinished book. Tubbo was about to open it when Techno took it out of his hands, "Er- I appreciate the gesture, but I don't think you're quite old enough to read this one."

"Why?"

"I'll tell you when you're older. Why don't you go get a poem book instead?" Tubbo huffed and returned with Robert Frost.

"The Road not Taken, by Robert Frost.." Tubbo began.

Techno beaming with pride when Tubbo was able to pronounce the words he used to struggle with. Soon, Tubbo slowly stopped reading and fell asleep, the book still in his hands. Techno slipped the book out of his hands and grabbed his adult book, quietly closing the door behind him.

He found Niki had left already and Tommy and Fundy asleep on the couch. He joined Wilbur and Phil at the dining room table and the trio quietly talked for a bit. The first to depart was Phil, who went to sleep in Techno's room. After he was gone, Wil and Techno snuck out to play into bad habits, the pair stood outside smoking and watching the stars in comfortable silence. Wil headed in at around 2, leaving Techno to think over the past month.

Heading back inside at 3, he checked on Tubbo one more time, finding the boy fast asleep and holding the smaller bee plushie. With a smile, Techno decided to stay in Tubbo's room. Grabbing his bee plushie, he sat under one of the bees on the wall and fell asleep.

Techno had a very bee-arre dream, but was awoken by a happy Tubbo.
