There will be like no comfort in the next 5 or so chapters

Tubbo hesitantly stared at the front door, waiting for any noise from the other side. Niki had dropped him off, allowing him to escape the awkward tension between the two. Sucking in a breath, he pulled his key out and opened the door.

"Dad? I'm- I'm back-"

He was met with a quiet apartment, any signs of life missing. Stepping inside, he found everything exactly how it was when he left. He tossed his stuff into his room and crept towards the living room.

"...Dad?"

It was empty as well, making Tubbo uneasy. The window brought a dull light into the room and the books on the shelf were a little dusty. He looked around, slightly confused before opening Techno's door.

"Dad?"

Grabbing his phone, he sat down on the couch and called Techno. He was met with no response and called again, this time leaving a voicemail. He sent a text as well, which Techno opened and didn't respond.

With a sigh, Tubbo turned on the TV and threw a blanket over him.

Tubbo woke up to the soft creaking of the front door opening, followed by stumbling. He looked up as Techno made his way into the kitchen and got a glass of water.

Techno either ignored him or didn't seem to notice as he walked into his bedroom. There was a soft groan as Techno fell onto his bed.

Getting up, Tubbo crept into the room and frowned at the disheveled form. He softly sighed as Techno fell asleep and he took off Techno's shoes and scarf.

Hesitantly, Tubbo looked around before climbing into bed with him, crinkling his nose at the smell of alcohol. He scooted away, nearly falling off the bed in the process.

"Tubbo...? What are you doing here?" Techno mumbled, looking at him.

"I've been home, Dad. Where have you been?" Tubbo asked, sitting up slightly.

"Just a bar..." Techno said as he yawned, "I didn't know you were coming back today. I would've stayed home."

"You're drinking. Again."

"Only a few beers..."

Tubbo just groaned and laid down, "You're ruining everything."

Techno laughed, "Yeah, I've been told that a lot..."

Tubbo woke up the next morning to Techno gently shaking him awake. He groaned and rubbed his eyes, stretching as he sat up.

"I made you breakfast. Do you... Do you want me to take you to school or...?"

"Ask me in a bit," Tubbo said and pushed Techno away, getting up. He sat down at the kitchen table, Techno following close behind. The older shifted uncomfortably as Tubbo ate, slightly unsure of what to do.

"Don't you have work to do."

Techno looked down and fiddled with his hands, "Well I uh, I took today off because I thought you were coming home today, but you came home yesterday so... I uh, I guess I don't have work to do."

"Oh."

An awkward silence filled the room. Techno shifted and sat down across from Tubbo. They avoided eye contact with each other, Techno staring out the window.

"...Do you want to do something after school? I had a few things in mind for today to do with you but I uh, failed on that front. We can go to the bookstore or go get ice cream or-"

"Just- Stop," Tubbo said, cutting him off. Techno looked at him confused, "I know what you're doing, Dad. I don't want whatever act you're putting on."

"Well, I just thought-"

"I don't want you to take me to school, I don't want whatever plans you had, I don't want you to talk to me with your fake smile acting as if you didn't ignore me for two weeks and started drinking again!"

"I-"

Tubbo stood up and went to his room, closing the door behind him. Techno looked at the door for a second before getting up and cleaning the plate. He started the kettle and looked up as Tubbo came out.

He smiled, "Have fun at school."

There was no response as Tubbo left.
