Tubbo heard the quiet snoring coming from Techno's room and peeked in. It was Sunday, so Techno often slept in to try and balance out the lack of sleep he got during the week.

His eyes landed on the book, page down, sitting on the floor under Techno's hand. With a small smile, Tubbo realized his dad had fallen asleep reading. He crept into the room and picked it up, properly bookmarking it.

Techno slightly stirred before falling back asleep, Tubbo peeking out from under the bed. He looked back at the book, then to Techno.

Tubbo internally debated on reading just a couple pages. He had free reign over all the books in the house, except one shelf of books that belonged to Techno. He tried for a month to read those books, but Techno always gave him the same blanket answer.

"You're not old enough, Tubs."

He wasn't a kid, he was sixteen! He could read the same things Techno read. Maybe not as fast or know all the words, but he could definitely understand themes in the books they read together.

Tubbo glanced at the book and picked it up. He turned it over and read the title, A Storm of Swords, 3rd Installment in George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire.

A few pages wouldn't hurt anyone, right?

Tubbo was wrong. Oh so very, very wrong. He had opened the book to find a wedding, which he thought was lovely. He didn't really get the context of the wedding, but it seemed like a normal cheesy romance plot at first. Then, one of the characters drew a sword and a massacre ensued.

Before Tubbo got too far into the bloody details, he heard Techno slowly wake up. He quickly closed the book and looked up at Techno.

"Tubbo...? What are you-" Techno yawned and then saw the book in his hands, "How- How far did you read into that?"

Tubbo sniffled, "Are- Are the Starks dead?"

Techno sat up immediately, "Please for the love of God tell me you did not just read the Red Wedding."

"I- I didn't think it was blood- I thought they just liked red-" Tubbo mumbled and Techno quickly took the book from him.

"Tubs, when I said you're not old enough to read these books, I meant it. I'm not even old enough sometimes..." Techno shook his head and placed it back on the shelf.

"Then why are you reading it?" Tubbo huffed and stood up, crossing his arms.

"Because HBO didn't do the last seasons justice and I wanted to read the books in case there were any differences," Techno looked at him, "Which there are a lot of."

Tubbo frowned, "You watched that too?"

"Uh yeah. Why do you think Niki and I sent you to bed really early every Thursday," Techno smiled and walked out, "C'mon Tubs. You're going to do some English assignments with me."

"But I don't have any English homework...?" Tubbo said and followed him out.

"Which is why I'm going to make some up for you to do while I make lunch," Techno said as he opened his laptop and opened a blank document.

"That's not fair!"

"Well you shouldn't have read my books. Since you clearly have a passion for literature, why don't you write me an essay on why you should listen to me more often?" Techno smiled and sat Tubbo down, "At least a page, no double spacing and 11.5 Times New Roman. Have fun."

Tubbo pouted as Techno left for the kitchen, "This is stupid."

"I'm being nice. I was debating on a three page essay with five cited sources, a title page, and an abstract. What do you want for lunch?" Techno looked around the corner.

"Just a sandwich..." Tubbo mumbled as he started typing.

"Make sure to do an outline first, Tubs. You can't just jump into an essay without planning," Techno grinned from the kitchen as Tubbo groaned.

Niki came over to find Techno and Tubbo curled up on the couch, looking at Techno's laptop. Techno had his reading glasses on and looked at her when she came in.

"Guess who had to do an essay on why Dad's instructions should be heeded?"

Tubbo looked at her, "I don't want to do this, please save me."

Niki laughed and joined them, sitting on the other side of Tubbo, "Well, I'm sure this doesn't count as 'Cruel or Unusual Forms of Punishment' so no help here."

"Why did you have to be an English major..." Tubbo mumbled as Techno continued to read his essay.

Eventually, Techno let Tubbo escape as he edited Tubbo's essay. He shook his head at the lack of proper grammar and sighed as he retyped practically the entirety of the last paragraph.

"What did he even do?" Niki asked as he reread it.

"Read Game of Thrones while I was asleep. He was halfway through The Red Wedding. Thank God it wasn't Cersei and Jaime," Techno sighed and closed the document.

"You made him write an entire essay over that?" Niki shook her head, "Maybe that is cruel and unusual."

"Yeah, it's cruel and unusual until I get woken up in the middle of the night with Tubbo screaming in his sleep over Catelyn's death," Techno huffed as he placed his laptop back on the dining room table.

"Do you want to rewatch that episode?"

"Absolutely not."
