Sick Days

Techno felt absolutely horrible. His head spun every time he stood up and was pounding as he made tea. Tubbo and him had gotten caught in the rain coming home and it was the one day he forgot his umbrella.

He let out a sigh that turned into a couple of coughs, then heard someone coughing as well. Straightening his posture, he grabbed onto the counter as he nearly toppled over. After the black spots were gone, he opened Tubbo's door, to find him staring at Techno.

"Hey Tubs, you sick too?" Techno was met with coughing and just nodded, "I'll make you some soup, just stay in bed."

Tubbo mumbled something as Techno turned and left the door slightly open so he could still keep an eye on him. Tubbo got up and went to close the door, but his head spun and his knees buckled and he fell to the floor.

Techno heard the thud and rushed into the room, "Tubbo?" He picked the boy up and set him in bed. He felt Tubbo's forehead, He's burning up, he thought and went to grab the thermometer.

Tubbo was going in and out of consciousness as Techno worriedly fussed over him. Techno was panicking and the dull ache of his headache wasn't helping the situation. In a panic, he called Niki, who said she'd come as fast as possible. When she arrived, she kicked him out of Tubbo's bedroom.

Techno reheated his tea and was making Tubbo's soup when Niki slipped out of Tubbo's room. She ushered him out of the kitchen with his tea and locked him in his room. She came in a little while later with a bowl of soup and a new mug.

"Oh- thank you," Techno said quietly as she helped him sit up.

"Don't worry about it. Tubbo is doing better, his fever has gone down," Niki said as she reached over and felt his forehead, "However, you sir need to take medication too."

Techno weakly protested as she forced him to take the medicine, eventually giving in after a few minutes. She sat and quietly talked to him while he ate and helped him lay down when he finished.

"If you need me just call. Don't get up," Niki said as she left with the empty bowl, leaving Techno to fall asleep. She peeked in on Tubbo, who was asleep as well. Sitting down on the couch with a quiet sigh, Niki scrolled through her phone and fell asleep.

The next morning, Techno felt better and shuffled his way out of his room, still, a little light-headed. He saw Niki asleep on the couch and snuck into the kitchen to start making breakfast.

Niki woke up from the smell of food and looked in the kitchen, "Techno, you should be in bed," she stood and walked over.

Techno slid her a plate, "I'm fine."

Niki took it, "This better be for Tubbo and that one for you."

"I'm not hungry, I normally skip breakfast," Techno replied and started the kettle.

"Well, you're not today. I'm going to go wake Tubbo and when I come back that plate better be empty or close to it," Niki said as she headed into Tubbo's room.

Techno just raised his hands, "Fine, fine," and he started to poke at the breakfast.

Niki set the plate down on the nightstand and gently shook Tubbo awake, "Tubbo, it's time to eat." Tubbo mumbled something and rolled over and she shook him again, "Your dad made it just for you."

This time Tubbo looked at her and sat up, "ok..."

Niki smiled and she set the plate on Tubbo's lap and placed a hand on his forehead. Tubbo's fever had broken, but he seemed to still be suffering from congestion. She got up to grab his medicine and check on Techno, who had begrudgingly finished his plate and was sitting in front of his laptop working. Frowning, she closed it on him and went back into Tubbo's room.

Tubbo looked at her as she gave him the pill. He took it and laid down, "Can you read me a story?"

Niki nodded and sat down to read. She saw Techno out of the corner of her eye, as he leaned in the doorway and listened. She looked up and Tubbo had started to drift off to sleep. Closing the book, she stood and kissed his forehead, "Sweet dreams, Tubbo."

"Goodnight mom..." Niki's heart melted as she slipped out of the room with Techno quietly closing the door behind her.

"I guess you're mom now," Techno gave a small smile.

"I guess so," Niki gave him a smile back, "Platonic parents, who would have guessed?"

The pair quietly laughed and sat on the couch together and watched TV.

Soon, Niki let out a cough and Techno scooted away, causing them both to laugh and break into more coughs. Niki smiled as Techno went to make them tea and check on Tubbo.

This was her favorite place to get sick.
