oh yeah NON-CANON tubbo is still alive in the base timeline

When the trio came inside, Tommy was waiting for his yelling, but it didn't come. He looked up at Techno and found a distant stare.

Techno was deep in denial. Tubbo wasn't gone. This was just a sick joke. He was waiting, impatiently waiting for Tubbo to pop out and hug him and for Tommy to start laughing. He was waiting for his Tubbo to hug him, to want him to read him to sleep, to ask him silly questions that caught him off guard, and to ramble about bees while they took their evening walk.

As the night went on, that moment never came.

Techno sat awake at his desk, waiting. He closed the laptop with a huff and got up and began searching. He checked Tommy's favorite hiding spots, then Wilburs, then Phil's. When he found nothing, he started slowly tearing the house apart and searched every crevice, every door, every corner. He was in the kitchen when Niki found him going through the cabinets.

"Techno? What are you doing?" Niki's voice startled him and he hit his head on the cabinet.

"Ow- I was looking for him," Techno said as he stood, rubbing the back of his head, "He's just hiding right?"

Niki looked at him confused, "Looking for who?"

"For Tubs, who else? This is just some sick joke by Tommy right?" Techno laughed, "Tub's must have missed the timing and he's just hiding somewhere and-"

Niki hugged him, "Techno, you know Tommy. Would he really do something like this?"

Techno froze and pushed her away before laughing, "Are you in on it too? What about Wilbur and Dad?"

Niki closed her eyes, "Techno, he's gone."

"No. I refuse to believe it. He's just- hiding. It's the only one that makes sense," Techno turned back to start looking through the cabinets.

"Techno, he was in your arms when he- he-" Niki started crying and took his hand.

Techno turned to her, "That wasn't him. That couldn't be him. Niki, he's just hiding," he smiled at her.

"He's not-"

"Yes he is!" Techno snapped at her, tears stinging at his eyes, "He's waiting for me, I just have to find him."

"You're not going to find him, Techno! He's dead!"

"You're lying to me! You're all lying to me!"

Phil heard yelling and rushed downstairs, "What's going on?"

Techno turned to him, tears streaming down his face, "Where did you hide him? I can't find him, but I have to! He's waiting for me! I promised I'd be there for him!"

Phil looked at Niki who was sobbing and he looked back at Techno, "Techno, stop and think about it. He was in your arms and you know that it was him."

Techno took a step back, "I- No- You're lying."

"Would I lie to you about something like this?" Phil slowly stepped towards Techno, who was evaluating him.

"No-" Techno stumbled into the counter and started hyperventilating, Phil rushing to hug him as he fell to the ground.

"I'm sorry, Techno, I'm so sorry..." Phil pulled him close.

There wouldn't be anymore hugs, no more bedtime stories, no more silly questions, no more bee talks, no more Tubbo.

Techno felt his heart shatter at that revelation and he shoved Phil off him, "I- I need- I need out."

"Techno-" Niki started to follow him out before Phil stopped her.

"Let him be, Niki. He's overwhelmed right now," Phil said quietly, "I'll wait up for him, you go back to bed."

Niki hesitated before pushing past him, "No. He can't be alone right now, he's hurting."

Techno walked as tears blurred his vision and he started running. He ran till he physically couldn't take a step and fell to the concrete exhausted. Everything hurt, but it was nothing compared to the overwhelming grief.

There were so many things he wanted to do with Tubbo, things he wanted to say. A sob escaped him as he realized he'd never told Tubbo how much he loved him, that his last words to his son were broken promises and false hopes.

Techno sobbed as he realized just how much of his world just vanished right in front of him. He was going to surprise Tubbo with a trip to Disney, take him to go see a Broadway show, buy him a new computer. Techno would have given him the world if Tubbo asked.

Niki found him curled on the sidewalk sobbing and she pulled him into a tight hug, Techno latching on immediately.

They stayed there for a while and Techno swore he felt someone else hug him.
