Chapter 17: Why So Awkward?
Andromeda walked through the Dome of Skystar, feeling very much at ease. She knew that she couldn't put Hunter off from finding himself a mate for too long, and she was at least glad that it was someone he'd known for a while, so she probably wasn't taking advantage of him, and they had good diversity. She was currently heading for the Meeting Cave, where Orion had agreed to meet her. They had both noticed that Midnight was acting weird around the Tapestry of Good and Evil, and Hunter reported that Birch, his best friend Borealis's brother, was also acting the same way. When she had asked Sapphire about it, she had said that they might be seers. Orion had not said anything about it yet, but Andromeda was planning to talk to him about it in the meeting between just the two of them. She trusted him very much, more than Sapphire or Midnight, or almost anyone. Not more than Hunter, though—they were equals. Until something else happened with Orion. She didn't stick around to think about it. She had bigger things to celebrate, like Hunter and Ruby becoming mates, and possibly Midnight and Birch's discovery of something fishy on the Tapestry of Good and Evil. Or the first month birthday of the Skystar Rebellion, which would be taking action very soon. First, she needed to plan what they'd do with the leaders who helped her. Orion was already there when she arrived, looking nervous. When he saw her enter, he smiled nervously, and said, "I talked to Birch. He thinks the Tapestry of Good and Evil is about either the past, the present, or the future." Andromeda stared. Orion had always been a smart one. Why hadn't she asked Midnight about what she thought the Tapestry of Good and Evil? That was common sense. Midnight wouldn't lie to her fully—and if she did, it wasn't hard to tell. Midnight was a horrible liar, to her, at least. Andromeda didn't know if she was good at lying at some other wolf. It didn't matter at the moment, though. "Oh," Andromeda replied dumbly. "That's a good guess." Orion nodded, looking uncomfortable. "Yeah," he said. "I agree. It said something about skies and stars on the tapestry." Andromeda sighed inwardly. Yesterday, herself and Orion were best friends. What had happened to make him like this around her? Had she done something wrong? Andromeda opened her mouth to speak, but it somehow came out wrong. "Well, I'll ask Midnight later. Meeting ended." Orion nodded again. He left in a flash, leaving Andromeda dizzy in the dust, confused and angry—at herself, and at everyone.
