Chapter 46: No Tears Left
Tears stained Hunter's fur. He was leaning against his sister, soon-to-be-Queen Andromeda, and his mother, Lady Cora, and father, Sir Kai, were behind him. His pups snuggled up with him, also crying. Yet, as he stared at Ruby's fallen body, blood scattered everywhere, it seemed he had no tears left. "It'll be fine," Andromeda whispered in his ear. Crescent, Emerald, Diamond, and Crescent's pups had joined. Emerald and Diamond seemed to also have been crying, tears mixed with streams of blood. "Shh." Hunter stood. He gave Ruby's face a lick. She did not lick back, but he smiled himself when he saw that in her death, she had been smiling. It was stretched across her face, vibrant and beautiful. He didn't know if he could ever get over his mate, but he would be satisfied knowing she died smiling. He looked up. Hope, his daughter, his youngest, his hope, was staring at him in the eyes. She looked sadder than he had ever seen her look before. Yet, she lifted her head and sang to to her mother, up in the sky.
"You died fighting for the best, Smiling, after taking a hard, battle-won test, You loved, and you laughed, And your life, your spirit, was in tact. We shall miss you, With all the respect, due, Your existence shall be treasured, Forever, and ever. Blood is everywhere in sight, Your body lies after the fight, But we will always remember you, Happily, happily. You laughed, you sung, you danced, You mothered us, you cried, But ultimately, you survived, Until today's today, yes, the stars took you today. But in hearts, you are there, Smiling, laughing, Dancing, doing what you did best, We love you. It will always be pure and true, We will reminisce your good days, Forever and always, Forever and always, our mother."
