Chapter 19: Hunter's Line

Andromeda did not speak. She just walked, thinking about what Midnight had told them. The sky became the stars, and the wind became the roots? There was more to it than what met the eye. Why was Queen Cora's forces compared to wind? And why did they become roots, out of all things?
Maybe the winds had something to do with blowing, Andromeda thought. And the roots kept stable through harsh times. Maybe a lot of Queen Cora's supporters don't actually like Queen Cora, but are being forced to side with her. And maybe, still, they're staying stable and well-rounded despite everything.
However, she didn't have time to think too much. Their was a rustle in the grasses, and for a moment, Andromeda tensed, hackles raised and teeth bared, ready to attack. Then Hunter walked out slowly, wearing the "don't kill me now" look. Andromeda relaxed, beckoning him over with her front left paw. Laughing merrily, Hunter skipped over, his eyes clouded with happiness and pure joy.
"What is it, Hunter?" Andromeda asked, looking at her brother curiously.
Hunter hesitated, looking around to make sure nobody was watching, or listening, and he said, smiling, "Ruby's pregnant. She's been for two months, so she'll have the pups in a month."
Andromeda shot up. "Huh?" she asked, shocked for the second time that day. When she recovered from her shock, she looked at Hunter. "Why didn't you tell me until now, Hunter?" she demanded. Hunter shrugged.
"Ruby told me a month ago, but she asked me to wait another month to tell anyone. I think she was a little bit nervous of what you would think, Andromeda."
Andromeda sighed, closing her eyes briefly. "Was I really that bad?"
Hunter grinned. "Yup."
Andromeda stepped forward and touched her nose to Hunter's. He was slightly bigger than him now, but she remembered all the times when he was a small pup, and she was his big sister. She missed those days, but now, Hunter would have a litter of pups to look after with his new mate. She had to help him with it. She couldn't continue treating him like a pup forever.
"That's great, Hunter," she said, smiling at him. "Be a good father to them. Don't let them get into trouble. I'm sure you will, though. Raise them to make their mates happy."
Hunter nodded, and the siblings shared a nuzzle, before Hunter departed to check on his mate and their unborn pups.
