Chapter 20: Moonlit Song

She turned, and she gazed at the stars. She watched the moon as it rose. She looked at the trees, tall and imposing. She sat on a rock, and lifted her head and her muzzle, bending her neck, arching her back, but keeping her tail flat. She lifted her head, and she howled—she howled at the moon.
No other wolf howled at the moon, but she did, and she howled a soft song, a prophecy, some would call it, a telling of the future. But no, she was singing to the moon, a sweet lullaby that had dark, eerie backrounds, and her coat glimmered, her eyes glittered, but she closed them, and continued to sing to the moon, a tune which could make anyone sleep, unknowing of the true meaning.

"The wind will blow,
Roots will flow,
Sky will glitter,
Like the stars, to and fro.
She will win,
A hearty place,
And sing all her subjects,
To her kingdom, and her kin.
With all the happenings,
What could she do,
To save them,
To see them live on.
She has family,
She loves them and he,
She cannot see them go,
But they will go.
To a place called home,
Where they will grow,
Into the wolves she loves,
Yes.
They will grow,
Strong and leaders,
Fierce and fast,
Kind and humble.
She will pray to us now,
She will listen,
To the clouds,
And the stars that we know.
She will sigh,
To here, up high,
She will listen to us all,
Yes.
She will sigh,
To here, up high,
To the clouds,
And the stars that we know.
She won't die,
She'll stay alive,
For them, for us,
For the future.
She can fly,
In her dreams, in her sky,
To the world up high,
But she doesn't, no,
For them.
Moon, you cry,
To her, and I,
To the stars, up high,
That we know.
You will sigh,
Let it all up high,
You and her,
You shall share it, together.
You shall smile,
And she shall smile,
You will meet, and sing to bright stars,
Till the end."
