 ♡ FELI

I listen to Montell explain what's going on and I see Donté break in front of me. Montell sees it too and tries to explain to him why he should leave her alone.

I get why she needs time. It's a mix of hurt and shame. Old hurt that she's been dragging around for years, coloring her world darker than it actually is. It makes it hard to trust people and you end up assuming the worst all the time. I know what that's like. I've been there.

Montell and Carmon got me through it. And Fae is the reason I smile every day. The reason I am making this the best life I possibly can. Doing what I love to provide for her. To raise her as a strong, independent woman.

I walk into Donté's bathroom to put my own clothes back on and to give the two men a minute to talk. I'm sure it's easier to talk about Ama without me there. I look in the mirror and into my own eyes. I wink at myself and tie my hair in a messy bun on top of my head.

I sit down on the edge of the bath and type a message to Carmon.

I know it's late.

But I was wondering if I'm still welcome at your house.
I could use a Carmon hug right now.

She replies immediately and asks if she has to pick me up. I send her my location and walk out of the bathroom.

♡ DONTÉ

How can I not contact her? She thinks I... with Feli of all people. I would never. I mean Feli is gorgeous, but I don't feel anything romantic for her. Nothing like what I feel for Ama.

I look at Montell, "I can't let her go away for three days, thinking I was with someone else the second she went out with Noah. I can't let her leave with that in her mind. Even if I don't stand a chance at a relationship with her. I don't want her to think that about me."

Montell puts his hand on my shoulder and his eyes look sad. "I'm sorry bro. I'm choosing her side here. She needs to be protected from other people's feelings right now."

"Yeah, but she's with Noah, right? And he's telling her God knows what. And..."

I make my way over to the floor to ceiling windows and slam my fist against the glass, resting my forehead against it, welcoming the cold against my skin.

Feli walks into the room again, dressed in her own clothes. She runs up to me and grabs my shoulders trying to make me turn to her. She pinches my skin when I don't move and I turn around to her, avoiding her gaze by staring at the floor.

She balls her hands into fists and says in a demanding tone: "Look at me Donté!"

My head snaps up and my eyes meet hers.

There's a tiny smirk on her lips, but it disappears quickly and her eyes show nothing but compassion. She speaks in a soft voice, "Leave her alone. Give her time. What is meant to be will be, no matter what. But if you need to get it off your chest for yourself, write her a letter. I'm sure you can find someone willing to deliver it to her. That way you can write your feelings down and she can decide when she's ready to read it."

I stare at the petite, curvy woman in front of me, impressed by her words and the way she managed to make me listen. She's like a younger version of madame Antoine, firm and strict but with a loving base, wrapped in a sexy package. I nod at her and walk over to my dresser, getting a pen and paper from the drawer.

He searches for a pen and paper right away and I hug Montell. I tell him Carmon is about to arrive to pick me up and ask him to take care of Donté. He promises to keep an eye on him and I walk out of the room.
