I wanted to create a stand-alone chapter at first but decided against it. Just imagine we froze time to celebrate Halloween with our favorite characters.

I look at the videos on my laptop with a smile. The club has cameras in all strategic places. People think it's just security but it's for my own pleasure too. I love watching my 'family' work.
It gives me great joy to see them all come together for the same cause tonight. A cause that is close to my heart.
The homeless shelter my sister and my son volunteer at is important to me. Only my sister knows why. They gave me a safe place to stay when I ran away from my abusive boyfriend. I was pregnant with Montell and didn't know where to go.
My boss found out I was living there and bought me a small apartment. In fact, it's the apartment Feli lives in right now. My boss gave me food and a place to stay and as a thank you, I danced and sang my ass off for him every night.
I've inherited the club from him and turned it into the money-making machine it is now. Profitable, but with heart. I take care of my people.
I click on one of the small squares on my laptop to watch the video fullscreen. Ama and Feli are setting up the sweet station and dancing and singing to Halloween songs together.
Montell and Donté are filling a punch bowl with a green, gooey punch. Donté has made it every year since he started working here. No one knows what's in it. But it looks horrible and gets you drunk fast.
I glance at the costumes hanging on the clothing rack in the corner of the room. They all told me what they would like and I ordered the best ones available. Halloween is a big thing in the club. We raise money for the shelter while having fun. We only serve themed drinks and food, play Halloween music, and provide all kinds of fun activities.
I have selected a special group of people as the main staff for this event. The reason behind it being I want to see how well they work together. I need to see the dynamic of the group. I click on the footage of the overview camera and watch Montell, Donté, Feli, Ama, Mona, and X prepare everything for the party.
Mona. She's here because I pray she will become my daughter in law. She's perfect for my Montell. She's so loving and kind. And at the same time fiercely protective over the people she loves. I love that about her. She is setting up the savory section and I can tell she's having fun. She radiates joy.
