Louis' POV

Green. Not that kind of light or dark green. Light olive green with a touch of the green of a leaf. That green was all Louis could focus on. That green that had made him notice how beautiful he was.
He didn't hear what the others were talking and he didn't want to know. All he wanted was this moment to never end.
When Harry looked away it was like someone stabbed Louis with a knife. He felt like a door closed right in front of him and he was locked out. And there was nothing he could do about it.

Louis noticed Gemma looking at him. He returned the look and gave her a little smile. She shook her head and looked away. He frowned, thinking about what he could've done to her. He was about to say something as Harry stood up and started to clear the table after Freddie had finished.

He thought of following him and talking to him in the kitchen. Harry couldn't say No if he didn't give him the opportunity to. But as soon as Gemma got up - followed by Maya and Amelia, he remained seated. Eleanor looked at him and gave him a look. She didn't like that Harry hated him the way he did but not even she could change that.
As Freddie stood up, Louis looked at him smiling.
"Where are you going, Fred?"
He rolled his eyes and answered as if it was obvious: "Harry, dad"
Louis couldn't even say something as fast as Freddie was in the kitchen following Harry. Theo laughed. "Now we know who his favourite uncle is"
He smiled and nodded as the others laughed. Harry had been great with children always. They loved him and he loved them.

A few minutes later Harry came back carrying Freddie in the arms. The little one had wrapped his arms around his neck and was talking excitedly.
"Freddie, what about walking?" El smiled at the little man in Harry's arms.
"It's comfy. And high" He giggled and looked down at his father.
"What do you wanna say with that?" Louis asked with an undertone.
"He wants to say that you're small and Hazza's big" Liam grinned knowing exactly what he did.
"Oh c'mon, I'm big!" Louis tried to defend himself.
"No daddy. You're bloody small" His son giggled and made everyone laugh.
"Bloody? You're teaching your son swearwords? Louis!" Anne said in a joking way.
"He's not teaching them. Freddie just listens" Lottie smiled earning a bad look from Louis.
He leaned back and enjoyed the familiar atmosphere. He felt a genuinely feeling of happiness that hadn't been there for a long time. Since his mother had died there had been no family dinners or stuff like that. They would miss her too much at the time.
He looked at his sisters who were talking to Gigi and Amelia. They looked content and happy what made Louis' heart warm.
Lottie was talking to El, Maya and Liam having Bear on his lap who played with his toys. Niall was talking with Liam's dad Geoff and Zayn about sports.

When Louis looked back at his son his heart nearly melted. Freddie had one of Harry's curls in his hand and told him something. The green eyed man listened carefully. He was totally focused on Freddie.
He watched them as they talked but forced himself to look away after a few seconds. No one should notice the look he had given them.
Louis started talking with Niall and the others and focused on something different than Harry.

The next time he looked at Harry, Freddie was sleeping in his arms while he patted his back.
"Shall I take him?" He offered, looking at him.
"No it's fine. It doesn't bother me" Harry gave him a little smile and Louis looked away. He wasn't allowed to show his feelings. He wasn't allowed to give him a huge smile back, to let Harry know what he felt. Even though it was all he wanted to do.
He heard Harry talking to Amelia and focused back on the conversation with Niall and Liam's dad.

Harry's POV

Freddie Tomlinson was one of the loveliest children Harry had ever met. After only those few hours he would give everything to make the boy happy. His laugh was a sound that made Harry smile himself.
While Harry talked to the others, he was sleeping on his lap with his head resting on his chest. More than two hours they stayed exactly that way and when everyone started leaving, Harry stood up and Freddie opened his eyes sleepily. Bear was sleeping on Liam's arm as well and didn't even wake up through all the good-byes.

"I don't want to go.. Wanna stay with you.." He looked at Harry who smiled softly back at him. "But your dad wants to be with you, little man. I'll see you soon, ok?"
Sleepy, Freddie nodded "Promise?"
"I promise" Harry smiled and Eleanor and Louis did as well.
Freddie was reaching out to his father and Harry gave him to Louis. As their hands touched, Harry felt that kind of warmth, that kind of prickle on his skin but he fastly pulled his hands back. Louis gave him a short smile. "Thank you. See you soon"
Harry nodded and was pulled into a hug by Lottie. He kissed her cheek and smiled.
"I want to see you again soon, too"
"You will. Latest, at a show"
She nodded and let him go only for the twins to hug him too.
"Thank you so much, Haz. We missed something like that. We missed you"
"You guys are always welcome here. You're part of the family" He smiled at them as they thanked him. It was the truth. Louis' family had always been a part of Harry's. The girls were like sisters to him.
He watched them leave and noticed the only one left was Eleanor.

She hugged him. "Thank you Harry. It was a lovely evening. Please tell your mom that again"
He nodded and took a step back. Eleanor smiled at him and started walking towards her boyfriend when she suddenly turned around.
"Harry?"
"Eleanor?"
"Some things are not as they seem"
He frowned. "Okay?"
"Please remember that"
With those words she walked away and left Harry confused behind.
