Song for the chapter: Someday by KIM JAE HWAN (play it on loop)

Back in her apartment, Ye Jin was huddled up on her sofa, the waterworks never stopping as she tried to take calming breaths. Memories of her time with Bin flashed over and over again in her mind and she clenched her eyes shut in an attempt to shut them away.

Memories that used to bring her so much happiness now coloured her world in greys and Ye Jin found that she could no longer smile. Everything around her looks so dreary to her as she remembered all the times Bin made her laugh. And now...she ruined him. He hates her now. She broke his trust and his heart. Instead of protecting him and helping him heal, she broke him more instead.

Ye Jin opened up her palm to reveal the music box she kept, and the music started playing instantly. She remembered that Christmas night. She remembered Bin's fingers dancing across the piano as he played the song he wrote for her. There was so much love that flowed into the song then that the reminder only broke Ye Jin's heart even more. Every note now felt like a stab to her heart and she closed it before it got too much. Ye Jin was so deep in her turmoil that she felt as though she wouldn't be able to pick herself back up. She felt absolutely drained of all her energy now and she wished she could stop feeling that ache in her heart, even if it's just for a little while.

Suddenly, her doorbell rang and Ye Jin took awhile to process the knocks on her door and the bell as she got up slowly to open the door. It was really late and there was no reason why anyone would visit her at this hour but Ye Jin only wished for peace and quiet. The sooner she answered the door, the sooner she can get the silence she desperately needs.

Dragging herself over to her door, Ye Jin swung it open only to see Hyo Jin at the door. Her best friend looks livid as she stormed into her apartment and started ranting. Who could blame her? Ye Jin didn't give her a heads up and she has been uncontactable. So much has been going on recently that Ye Jin didn't even think to charge her old phone.

"Ya Ye Jin! Do you have any idea how worried I was? 6 months! No calls? No response to my texts? Your neighbours didn't even know where you were, and the hospital told me you resigned! Where were you? I thought something bad happened to you! It's as though you fell off the face of the earth! Goodness, you'd better have a good explanation for this...Wait Ye Jin ah, what's wrong?" Hyo Jin ranted until she noticed the tear-streaks on her best friend's face. She looks terrible. Her eyes were red and puffy and there was little life in her eyes. Hyo Jin shivered when she remembered when she last saw those eyes and it was not a time the two girls wish to re-visit.

"You need some chamomile tea. Go sit on the couch." Hyo Jin said quietly as she made a beeline for the kitchen. Ye Jin simply dragged herself back to the couch and under her blankets again as she stared off into the distance. By the time Hyo Jin was back by her side, she was a frozen statue on the couch as she limply took the cup of tea from her best friend's hands.

"Yej, please talk to me. You're scaring me. You have no idea how worried I was for you. I'm just relieved to see you again." Hyo Jin said softly. Ye Jin sipped the tea slowly as she tried to ignore the sting in her heart but Hyo Jin's concern only made the waterworks start again as she was slowly reduced to a blubbering mess.

"Hyo Jin ah...Mianhae." Ye Jin cried out as her best friend shifted to hug her. Ye Jin clung onto Hyo Jin like a lifeline just like the night when her appa passed away. Ye Jin cried in Hyo Jin's arms as the girl tried to calm her down.

Ye Jin has always been optimistic but Hyo Jin was one of the few who has seen her in her vulnerable state. Behind her happy smiles and laughter was a girl who had her own demons to deal with. Behind the strength that everyone sees in Ye Jin was a girl who craved for someone to lean on as well.
