Chapter 39

After lunch and a movie with Chase, inihatid na niya ako sa bahay.

We're still in the car, "Tara baba ka muna, gusto mo mag-coffee?"

He shakes his head, "I think I'll head out na, I don't think Oliver would want me to stick around."

I roll my eyes, "Hindi mo kailangan umiwas dito sa bahay just because he's here."

He sighs and leans his temple on the headrest, "I guess I'm just avoiding any more interactions with him."

I hate that this has to be complicated, but I can't blame Chase kung gusto niya na lang umiwas. He's such a gentleman.

I unbuckle my seatbelt and catch Chase offguard by giving him a kiss on the cheek, "Thank you for today. I had a wonderful time."

He scans my face and smiles, "You're welcome."

I pinch my lips and move away to open the door.

I get off the car and bend down so I can see him through the window.

He opens the window and says, "I'll call you?"

I nod, "Ingat ka pag-uwi."

I squint at the sunset as I watch him drive away. Hapon na kami nakauwi ni Chase at palubog na ang araw.

When Chase's car is far enough for me not to see, I sigh.

Hindi ko alam kung anong naghihintay sa akin sa bahay. Inaabangan ba ako ni Ollie makauwi?

Will I see a calm Ollie? Or will he be asking me questions about my date?

He was rude earlier, and never ko'ng naisip na magiging gano'n siya towards anyone.

I look at the house and feel slightly uncomfortable going back inside. Now that I know what Ollie's intentions are, parang hindi ko na alam kung anong gagawin ko kapag nakita ko siya. It's more awkward now than it's ever been.

Napabuga ako ng hangin, I just have to face him and let whatever happen.

I walk up to the house and kick a little bit of the pebbles along the driveway as I go. I bite the inside of my cheek and brace myself for whatever's coming.

Nang malapit na ako sa pinto, I hear a faint sound coming from the garden.

I scrunch my eyebrows and walk towards the garden. Sumilip ako sa side ng dingding para makita kung ano ang mayroon doon.

Nanlaki ang mata ko when I see the set-up there.

I walk over to the garden, amazed at how beautiful it is.

Mayroong mga naka-hang na bulbs overhead, providing that soft glow in the garden. There are small lights lined up on the trees making it feel magical. The lamps are lined up on the grass creating a pathway.

And on the far-end of the pathway was a tent adorned with lights.

I stop walking and just look at everything in amazement.

It's just too much.

I put a hand on my heart, telling it to calm down. I blink a few times para kalmahin ang sarili ko.

Ollie just stands there smiling.

I finally say, "What the hell?!"

I expected Ollie to get annoyed with my outburst but he just chuckles, "Do you like it?"
