Chapter 43

We get to the house and find that everyone's busy with the preparations for Lola's birthday.

Sinalubong ako ni Kuya and looks between me and Ollie, "Magkasama ba kayo maghapon?"

He points to me, "'Di ba sinundo ka ni Chase kanina."

Ollie answers, "Biglang pinatawag sa office si Chase so Mia called me para magpasundo."

Kuya puts a hand on his mouth, "Wow. That's savage, Mi. I'm proud of you."

Kumunot ang noo ko, "Savage? Bakit?"

He sobers up, "Nothing."

Hinatak ako ni Kuya paakyat ng kwarto, "Tara, may kailangan tayong gawin today. Tutulungan mo ako."

Sumunod lang ako kay Kuya and I look back to see Ollie's just watching us leave.

When we get to my room, Kuya closes the door at namaywang siya when he faces me, "Mi, what the hell are you doing?"

Naupo ako sa kama ko, "What do you mean?"

He sighs, "Stop dilly dallying and choose one already. Put one guy out of his misery. Ollie looks like someone just kicked his puppy when I said Chase's name."

He sits beside me, "He would never push you to decide, kilala mo si Ollie hindi siya gano'ng klase ng tao, but it doesn't mean he doesn't get hurt when Chase shows up or when you get home after a date with him."

Umiling siya, "Nagpasundo ka pa."

I butt in, "Siya naman ang nag-offer."

I don't say any more dahil ayaw ko naman mapahamak kay Kuya si Chase. Baka umbagin n'ya 'yon dahil pinaghintay ako ng matagal.

He sighs, "It doesn't matter if he offered or kung ikaw ang nagpasundo. What I'm saying is you know he's not happy about it, you know it's hurting him, but you still do it. Hindi sa kumakampi ako kay Ollie, but you know how deeply rooted his feelings are for you. You're not just some girl to him. You're it."

I frown. I get Kuya's point, but what do I do about it? Should I decide already just because I'm inconveniencing him or Chase? Dahil mas madali para sa lahat?

Am I being selfish right now?

And if I am, am I not allowed to be?

Kuya puts and arm around my shoulder, "I don't want to push you to choose either one of them, although I think that point is moot since you know who I trust you with, pero time is ticking Mi. Not for you because you're young, but for us."

He stares at me, "We're leaving a week after Lola's birthday. What are you going to do after? Are you going to stay here for either of them? Kung babalik ka naman ng US, it's going to be your first relationship and it's going to be long-distance?"

I frown.

I have no idea what I'm doing or what I'm going to do.

He smiles, "Whatever you decide, I'll be there to support you, you know that. Pero as your Kuya, I'm telling you, you need to make that decision, Mi."

He gives me a hug and stands to leave, "We have a lot to do pala tomorrow, we'll make rounds ulit sa restaurants ni Lola. So, don't schedule any dates tomorrow."

"Ha ha."

He snickers, "Sige na, I'll leave you alone."

He leaves the room and I lie down on the bed.

I think I need to clear my head for the next few days. I'll focus on Lola's birthday muna and my family.

I text Chase na mag-aasikaso muna ako para sa birthday ni Lola and that I'll just see him on Saturday. Kailangan ko lang iwasan si Ollie and just do my apo duties until Saturday. I'll decide then.
