Chapter 12

Time Jump...

Andy's 20 Weeks and 2 Days... Today is Andy's 20-week ultrasound and checkup. Both Andy and Robert are excited to see their daughter. Thankfully Robert wasn't on shift today, so they got to drive to the doctor's office together.

When they got there, Andy checked in and was taken to a room. It took a little bit for the doctor to come in, but she did. The doctor talked to Andy for a minute, and then she sent her to the ultrasound room, and told Andy after the ultrasound, that she would be back to do her checkup.

When Andy got into the ultrasound room, she laid down, and the nurse started the ultrasound. As soon as the nurse put the wand on Andy's belly, they heard the heartbeat. They listened to that for a minute then she checked everything. During the middle of the ultrasound, the baby started to move, and the nurse pointed that out. Andy couldn't believe it, but she felt her baby moving. She had been that for a couple of weeks but wasn't sure what it was. After that, they got a lot of pictures. Some of the pictures they got were of her face. When they saw her face, Andy knew what her name was at that moment. After they saw her face, the nurse let them listen to her heartbeat for a minute. After they finished the ultrasound, they went back to their room.

After some waiting, the doctor came in and did Andy's checkup. The checkup included checking Andy's belly, and listening to the heartbeat which was normal. After that, Andy got some blood work, and they left.

Later that evening, after everything calmed down, and Andy went to bed, Robert called Lucas.

Robert and Lucas Phone Conversation... Lucas: Hello, Robert. How's it going?

Robert: I saw my baby girl's face today. When I saw her face, I knew that Andy and I need to be in Seattle with her family. Both of us have no one here in Montana, so us being in Seattle would be best for our family. The thing is Andy doesn't know I'm calling you. I'm calling because I need a job, and I don't care what rank I am. Lucas: Okay. I'm not sure what we have available, I'll call you tomorrow or the next day. Robert: Okay.: End of Conversation

When Lucas heard all of that he was surprised, because when Robert left Seattle, he told Lucas, that "I'm never coming back." So when he called and asked for a job he was surprised. The only job that he has available is station 19, so he decided to call Andy tomorrow since he's on shift.

Andy's 20 Weeks and 3 Days... When Andy woke up this morning, Robert already left for his shift, but he left her a note. When Andy checked her phone, she had a text from Ripley telling her to call him about Captain business. When Andy saw that she was worried, but called him.

Andy and Lucas Conversation... Andy: Hello, chief. You told me to call about the captain's business of 19. Lucas: Yes. Have you decided yet? Andy: No. Why? Lucas: What do you think of Robert being captain? Andy: Why? Lucas: He called me last night, and told me that y'all belong in Seattle. He wanted his daughter to grow in Seattle around your family, and that y'all had no one here. Andy: Do you think it's a good idea for him to be captain of 19? Lucas: I do, because he already has the skills, and is trustworthy. I won't tell him yes, without your say. Andy: I would love to be in Seattle, but when I come back, I'm going to have a lot to explain. Lucas: Yep. Andy: Do you think Robert will be a good fit? Lucas: I do. Andy: Okay. I guess he's the new captain of station 19. My contract here will be up in about a month. You get to be the one who tells him. I guess we'll be moving in about a month. Lucas: Okay. Are you sure about this? Andy: Yes, because I have everything I could have ever wanted. A man I love, and a daughter. Having Robert, and my daughter is better than being captain. I have everything I could have wanted. Lucas, you have given me everything I could have wanted. Thank you. My gift to Robert, is him being captain. Lucas: Okay. To help out, I will start looking for apartments for y'all. Andy: Okay. Thank you.: End of Conversation

After she hanged up with Lucas, Andy was relieved that she didn't have to choose between being captain in Seattle or staying in Montana to be with Robert. Andy was excited for Lucas to tell Robert that he's going to be captain of 19.
