Chapter 40 - The End of the Book

The Past Year... This year has been very special to Andy, and Robert. There have been many milestones. Some of her firsts were: her first smile, rolling over, sitting up, crawling, first steps, first food, and her first word. Claire's first words were mama, and then dada. Her first food was apples. Every first there's a picture. Also, Andy cries almost always when there is a new first.

She rolled over for the first time at three months; she sat up at six months; she started to crawl at seven months old; she walked at ten months.

First Word... She said her first word at five months old. She was eating at the station when Robert came into the room. She said dada, and then mama. When they heard say those words, they were just shocked.

First Steps... Claire took her first steps at ten months old. They were in the station when it happened. Claire was crawling around when Robert came back from a call. Claire just stood up and walked towards Robert. When Andy and Robert realized what happened, they were just shocked. Then the team realized, and it was just a party.

This last year has been the most special to Andy, probably. Andy loves being a mom. All those firsts have made Andy love being a mother. Andy would rather be a mom, than a firefighter right now. She still hasn't gone back to work yet. This means, that Andy and Claire are very close. Andy's still breastfeeding. There have been struggles with breastfeeding, but they've gotten thru them.

Claire is a very happy little girl. She loves to run and play. She says that her mommy is her best friend. She's a mommy's girl. She loves going to the station. She loves having so many aunts and uncles.

Every shift, Claire goes to the station. That always makes Robert's day. Claire makes sure to do most of her firsts in front of Robert. They have two routines. One for shift days and one for non-shift days. That's her first year.

Claire's A Year Old Tomorrow... Tomorrow is Claire's first birthday, and today is Andy and Robert's first anniversary. So, it's a big two days of festivities.

All of today, they spent it together as a family. They got everything ready for Claire's first birthday party. However, since it's Andy and Robert's first anniversary, Lucas and Vic are watching Claire so they can go out to dinner.

Conversation... Andy: Tomorrow, our daughter is turning one. Robert: I know. Where has this year gone? Andy: I don't know, but it's been an amazing year. Robert: Agreed.: End of Conversation After that, they have dinner and hang out as a couple. When they get home, they find Lucas and Vic asleep on the couch. Andy and Robert couldn't help but laugh.

Claire's Birthday... When Andy and Robert woke up, they did their morning routine, and then they started getting ready for the party. Robert went to go pick up the cake and balloons. Andy had one more decoration to do, and that was to put up a line of pictures with all the first pictures. Meanwhile, Andy and Claire got ready.

For once, Andy got dressed up. She and Claire played on the floor until Robert got back, and the team started arriving. When everyone started arriving, Andy got Claire dressed.

Claire and Andy had fun saying hello to everyone. They went around the room, Andy would introduce Claire to everyone, and she would say hello with their name back to them. Robert couldn't help but smile as he saw Claire and Andy together. After a bit, they all sat down for cake. When they sat down for the cake, Claire got into the cake, and there were so many pictures.

After a minute Robert said a toast.

Robert's Toast... Andy, I love watching you be a mother. This past year has been amazing. You're the best mother our little girl can have. You're an amazing mother. You protect her, make her feel better when she cries, you have nourished her, and best of all you teach her. I love you more and more when I watch you be a mother. I love you, Andrea.

After the toast, Robert started a song. When Andy heard the song, she started to cry, and then he took her hand, and they started to dance. The song was "Watch You Be A Mother" by Jonny Diaz. 

After they finished dancing, Andy kissed him, and they finished having the rest of the party.
