Chapter 10

Andy's 14 Weeks and 4 Days... When Andy woke up this morning, she was anxious. Today, Robert has captain meetings with a couple of other captains, so Andy's alone this morning. Today she has three more classes to teach, she hasn't been training firefighters, but the fire academy teachers. Today after those three classes, she's off for a couple of weeks, unless the fire academy needs her.

This evening, after her last class, Andy is meeting with Captain Hopper to tell him about the pregnancy. She was glad that she was telling him this evening, or she might not get to teach her last couple of classes.

While she was getting ready to go, she got a text from Robert. Robert's Text Said: Good morning. I hope you have some good classes. Tell me how it goes this evening when I get home. I love you.

When Andy made it to the fire academy she had 20 minutes to her first class. She got everything ready for the class and had a fun day. By the end of the day, she was sad that she was out of classes to teach.

At the end of the day, she actually sad that she was out of classes to teach. She made it to Captain Hopper's office.

Captain Hopper and Andy's Conversation... Andy: Hey captain, can we talk? Captain Hopper: Sure. What is it? Andy: I have something to tell you. Captain Hopper: Okay. What is it? Andy: Sir, I'm pregnant. Captain Hopper: Okay. Andy: I just wanted you to know, that this wasn't planned. I also wanted you to know that I wanted to tell you that I waited to tell you till I finished all my classes. Captain Hopper: Okay. How far along are you? Andy: 14 weeks. My doctor knows that I was teaching, so she just told me to do be careful of smoke. Captain Hopper: Okay. So I will put this in which means since, you have already taught all the people here at the academy, you will be an advisor for them. If you do shifts you'll be on ambulance duty. Andy: Okay. I just wanted you to know. Captain Hopper: Thank you. You are dismissed. Andy: Okay. Thank you, sir. (Andy leaves): End of Conversation

After that Andy didn't know if it went bad or if it went well. After she talked to him, she headed to her office that she had been using while she was there, grabbed her things, and left. She knew it would take a little bit for the paperwork to go thru, but she couldn't wait to get out on a shift.

At the end of the day, Robert was excited to see Andy and wanting to know how everything went with Captain Hopper. When Andy walked in the door, she just fell on the couch beside Robert. Robert couldn't tell if it went bad or good. After a minute she sat up and told him what happened.

Andy and Robert Conversation... Robert: So how'd it go with Captain Hopper? Andy: I really don't know. I told him, he told me that he would put it in and that I'm now an advisor. Robert: Okay. So how were the last classes? Andy: I'm actually going to miss teaching, and that's very surprising. Robert: By the way, Ripley will be visiting in a couple of weeks, and he still doesn't about the pregnancy. Andy: This is going to be fun to explain. Robert: So, how are we going to tell him? Andy: I don't know, my belly will likely tell him. Robert: So true. We still need to tell your father. Andy: He's the one, I'm worried about. Robert: So true. I'm the one who should be scared. Andy: Agreed. Robert: What do you want to do tonight? Andy: I just want to rest.Robert: Okay.: End of Conversation

Time Jump...

Andy's Now 15 Weeks and 5 Days... Today Andy has a doctor's appointment. Even though it's a checkup, and she's getting her blood work results. Even if it's a simple appointment, or coming in for blood work, Robert insists on going to every appointment.

Robert's on shift today, so he will be meeting her at the doctor's office. Andy has been off for the past couple of weeks, and she's been bored. Yesterday, she got a call that her pregnancy was on the record, and if she wanted to do a shift, she would just need to call Captain Hopper. When Andy heard that, she was excited to get on the next shift that she could do. In that phone call, the lady all mentioned that Andy has about 10 weeks left on her contract before she's required to choose if she wants to stay in Montana or go back to Seattle.

When Andy made it to her doctor's appointment Robert was already there, waiting for her. She checked in and was taken to her room. It took a few minutes for the doctor to come, but she did.

Andy's appointment was just a regular checkup. The doctor asked questions and gave them her blood work results. While she was giving the blood work results, they asked if they would like to know the gender, and to Robert's surprise Andy said "Not right now, but can we have it in an envelope." After that, they heard the heartbeat, when Andy and Robert heard that, it was music to their ears. After the doctor left the room, Robert asked her something.

Andy and Robert Conversation... Robert: Why don't you want to know? Andy: I do, but I want to do it with Ripley and my father. I think it would be fun to do it with some of my family. Robert: Okay, but how are we going to do it. Andy: Right now I really don't know. Robert: Okay.: End of Conversation

After that, Andy and Robert got her next appointment for when she's 20 weeks and left. When they got home, they discussed it a little bit more.

Andy and Robert Conversation... Robert: So, how are we going to tell Lucas and Pruitt that we're pregnant? Andy: With a cake from the bakery we always use. Robert: Okay. How do we tell them Andy: We would have Pruitt fly in, and we would have both Lucas, and Pruitt over for lunch. Then I would pick up the cake that morning, I'd wear a baggy shirt. We would have either Lucas or Pruitt cut into the cake, and when we see the color, we tell them that we're pregnant and that the inside of the cake is the gender. Robert: Okay. Remember Lucas is arriving next week. Andy: I know. I just hope my father can make it down here in time. Robert: Me too. Andy: I know this might not be a good time to bring this up, but when I'm 24 weeks, my contract will be up. What are we going to do about that? Robert: What would you like to do? Because I love you and will follow you anywhere. Andy: Okay. I will think about what I want to do because Ripley needs my decision in about five weeks. Robert: Okay. You know, when the pregnancy paperwork came through that the whole station knows now? Andy: I guessed. Robert: I love you. Andy: I love you too. I have to go call Pruitt, and I'll order the cake tomorrow. Robert: Okay.: End of Conversation

After they finished talking, Andy went and called Pruitt, and asked him to come down next week, and he said that he could come down, when Andy heard that, she was happy but anxious at the same time because her father was about to know in a couple of days that she's pregnant.

Andy's 15 Weeks and 6 Days... When Andy got up that morning, she rested for about an hour and then went to the bakery to order the cake. When she got there, she was excited. She ordered the cake and gave them the envelope.
