Chapter 37
Isn't it weird to see someone twice in a day? Especially if that someone is related to your special someone. Well I think it is. And I feel guilty for not telling Julie about it. About me seeing her dad coming out of the coffee shop.
"You're my daughter's friend?" he asked when he came up to me. I wasn't able to move that's why he got his chance to talk to me.
"Boyfriend, sir." I replied, nervously. I'm not nervous because he's Julie's dad. I'm more nervous because Julie hates him.
"I-I'm sorry for what happened earlier at the cemetery... I-uh..."
"You don't have to apologize to me sir. Wala naman po kayong kasalanan sa akin."
"I know. But I have done something to my family and it is unforgivable." he said, shaking his head. "I'm pretty sure naikwento na ng anak ko kung ano yun. Tama ba, hijo?"
"Y-yes sir." I replied. He nodded his head and looked around as if checking if I have company.
"Uhm... Are you still with Julie?" he asked.
"Yes. She's waiting for me at the ice cream house."
"Okay. Baka hinahanap ka na ng anak ko. Sorry for bothering you. But I just want to tell you that I am regretting everything that I've done. Sa pamilya ko, kay Julie, kay Harry, sa asawa ko..."
"Sir... Why are you telling me this?" I asked.
It took him long before he finally spoke.
"Dahil ikaw lang ang pinapakinggan ng anak ko." he said. I was dumbfounded. Yes, Julie listens to me but what does his words have to do with me? "I was hoping na maiparating mo sa anak ko na nagsisisi na ko. I really am, hijo. And I want her and Harry in my life again."
"I-I'm sorry. I have to go." I said and walked briskly back to the ice cream house.
"Uy. Di ka nanaman kumikibo." I woke up from stupor when Julie nudged me again. I looked at her and smiled weakly. "Ayos ka lang ba talaga?" she asked.
"Yes. Sorry if I spaced-out. Ano na nga uli yung sinasabi mo?" I asked as I wrapped my arms around her.
It's been weeks since that incident happened and I still haven't said a word to Julie. How will I tell her na nagkita kami ng dad niya not just once. But twice already? Yes. Naulit pa yun. And this time he wanted to talk to me seriously. And he wants them back. How will I tell Julie that her dad wants her and Harry in his life? That he is regretting everything he has done in the past? How will I tell her when everytime she hears his name, she would always burst out and will close her ears and her heart in accepting him back?
"Wala. Sabi ko, nagyayaya si Maq saken. Gusto niya magbeach kami kasi nawawalan na daw ako ng time sa kanya." she said.
"Beach? Kayong dalawa lang?"
"Kasama naman namin si Vic. Magbboy hunting daw siya. Pabirthday sa sarili. Hahahaha" she laughed. Natawa na din ako and even buried my head in her hair. She held my hand and intertwined our fingers. "Tsaka naisip ko din kasi, you'll be having a race in Thailand this coming week so sabi ko kay Maq, dun na lang din kami magpunta sa beach. Tutal, mamimiss lang naman kita kapag andito lang ako sa bahay."
"Haha. Aww... But, baby. Baka kapag nagboy hunting si Vic and sinamahan niyo baka ikaw ang makaattract sa kanila. Baka mabastos ka dun." I said.
"Hun, sa itsura kong to ba eh magpapabastos ako? Hello?! Ikaw nga walang palag saken eh. Sila pa kaya?" she quipped.
"Sabi ko nga eh." I nodded and even scratched my head.
"So ano? Payag ka?" she asked me.
"Yeah sure." I said. "But you have to promise me one thing."
