Chapter 59

I can't feel anything. The moment everything went pitched black, wala na akong naramdaman. Nasaan na ba ako? Bakit parang ang lamig naman dito? I opened my eyes and found that I'm lying on the floor. I sat up and looked around hanggang sa nakita ko ang isang pinto na puro liwanag lang ang matatanaw dun. What's in there?

I stood up from where I was sitting and walked towards the door. Ang sakit sa mata ng liwanag but I still want to know what's on the other side of the door. I turned the knob and opened it and my eyes stung from the brightness of the room.

"Where am I?" I asked. "Hello? May tao ba diyan?"

I walked around but there's not much to see. Just a few benches, a long hallway and nothing more. Nasaan ba talaga ako?

"Elmo?" I was surprised to see a lady standing a few meters away from me. "What are you doing here?" she asked curiously.

"Uhm... How did you know my name?" I asked.

"It doesn't matter. Ang mahalaga ay malaman ko kung bakit andito ka? You're not supposed to be here yet." she said.

"Bakit? Asan ba ko?"

She didn't answer and just bowed her head.

"Am I dead?" I asked her.

"It's up to you if you want to." she said. I looked closely at her and then it hit me. That pair of brown eyes and that nose. Kilala ko kung sino ang may ganyan.

"Y-you're Julie's mom?" she smiled at me and held me by the shoulder. We sat on one of the benches and she just stared at me. "So I am dead?"

"Sabi ko nga it will be up to you if you want to die, ijo."

"Pero..."

"You're still asleep down there, Elmo. And she's waiting." she said. I looked at her curiously and she just smiled sweetly at me. "My daughter has a lot of fears in her life. But her greatest fear was love. Takot siyang magmahal because of how my marriage with her dad failed. She was young at that time and you can't blame her for closing her doors on anyone. But then you came. And you destroyed every single wall she has built around herself. You showed her that love is not a scary thing. It's a wonderful feeling. And I want to thank you for giving my Julie a chance to feel it. I'm thankful because you helped her conquer her greatest fear in life."

"But we broke up already..." I trailed off. I felt her hands on mine and she squeezed it lightly.

"I know, ijo. I've been watching over you." she said. "Nalungkot ako dahil sa nangyari but I saw how much you wanted my daughter back. You love my baby right?"

"Yes, ma'am." I answered without hesitations. She nodded and gave me a warm smile.

"And she loves you too. Kaya kung gusto mong maging maayos kayo, you have to wake up. You have to stay. Because you're the only person she ever wanted. You're the only person she ever needs. And you're the only person who completed her life."

I nodded at her and she accompanied me back to where I came from.

"Tell her that I love her and all I want is for her to be happy."

"I will, ma'am."

"Mama. You can call me mama." she said. I nodded and gave her a hug. "You're the guy that my daughter's been dreaming of."

"And she's the girl in my prayers." I replied. I bid goodbye to her after that and opened the door again.

I opened my eyes slowly. There's a painting to my right and a huge window to my left. The whole room is painted white with a few blue accents and there's a couch below the painting.
