Ankita's P.O.V.
I was cooking dinner in the kitchen for my family that evening when Mrs. Kapoor came in. "What is for dinner?" She asked. "I making biryani. It's almost finish. Only five minutes again," I said. She scoffed and said, "Biryani! No no, throw that away and make something else. I am feeling like eating something continental." I frowned. "But I just finished an entire pot of..." I complained but she interrupted me saying, "I don't care. Cook it." Bending my head, I said, "Yes." I finished cooking the biryani and then started with her demand. Very quickly, and all alone, I began cooking her dinner since the family dinner starts in only half an hour. I was running from one corner of the kitchen to the next, gathering all the ingredients and supervising the pot which I already had on the stove. As I was about to finish, Johnny came into the kitchen and dropped his shoulders with a frown and looked at me. "Ani! Why are you cooking all of this alone?" He asked. He came and wore his apron quickly after resting the bag of groceries on the kitchen counter. He helped me cook the entire meal out in half the time I would have taken to cook it. "Where did you go at this time?" I asked. "I came back with groceries, I don't know where I went," he said sarcastically. "But the kitchen is perfectly well packed with groceries. Why did you need to buy more?" I asked confused. "Mrs. Kapoor ordered me to buy fresh ones. She wants a full Indian menu for dinner," he said. I looked at him in awe. "But she just saw me cooking a whole pot of biryani and said to make continental!" I exclaimed. "Well you know why she did that," he said. Nodding, I said, "I know." "What shall we do now?" he asked. "Well, I guess she has both. If she wants Indian, there is biryani and the continental is finished," I said. "Awesome," he said, "You go and freshen up a bit and I'll set the table." I smiled and nodded. I went up to my room and upon entering, I dropped on my bed and stared at the roof. My phone began ringing and I answered it. "Ankita, I have some bad news," Preeti said. I got up and asked, "What happened?" "Ayaan got selected for the competition," she said. I dropped my shoulders and sighed of relief. Getting up and walking outside, I asked, "So what?"
"Ankita! He got selected!" she emphasized. "I heard you already. What should I do about that?" I said in a low frowning voice. "You don't do anything. Whatever has to be done, Vicky and I will do," she said. "You guys aren't going to do anything," I said. "When will you start to stand up for yourself?" she asked. I sighed and said, "I did, at the night of the function. And what happened? I got punish." "Oh Ankita," she said softly. "I don't want to talk about all of this. I am having a nasty headache," I said. "Ok. I'll see you tomorrow then. You just take some medication and go to sleep," she said. "Good night," I said and hang up. I sat on the swing and hugged my body. Looking at nowhere, I began to think about Ayaan and the encounters I had with him earlier. He really made my heart race with his closeness earlier today. I didn't believe that after my changed feelings for him, that would've happened but I guess feelings don't change this easily.
The next few days in the college was very hectic with the entire team who was going to Manali for the concert. Finally, the night before leaving, I was at home, packing for the trip. Rohan came into my room with his normal route and looked at me. "Are you finished?" he asked. "Almost," I said. He held my hand and made me stand in front of him. Looking at me, he said, "I have been noticing you since the day of the auditions. Your smile has disappeared somewhere. Is it because you got demoted?" I sighed and sat on my bed. Bending my head, I said, "I just really thought that this would be the biggest step for me." He sat down next to me and held my hand. "You can be the manager or a spot, everyone know what you deserved and where you should be," he said. "It's not what people think. They are still all my friends. I have fallen in my own eyes," I said. "Hey, how can you say that? You did what was right. That Ayaan had no right to throw that bucket of water on you. You only leveled scores. If your Princy doesn't understand this, then it's not your fault," he said. I still wasn't convinced. "Are you worried because you have to see him for two weeks more?" he asked. I shook my head in no. "Then?" he asked. I sighed and exclaimed, "I don't know! I'm just feeling at the lowest." "Don't think too much. After these two weeks, you won't have to ever see him again," he said. I looked at him with a small frown. I nodded realising that he was right and he hugged me. I rested my head on his shoulder. "After this, I will never see Ayaan again," I said in my head. This thought was troubling and satisfying at the same time.
