Ankita's P.O.V.

Later that evening, Priya had reached Nana and Nani's house and we were all sitting and listening to Ayaan singing on the radio. "Seriously, God has given this guy such a wonderful voice no?" Priya said. "Our rockstar is the best," Nani said, "He deserves all the happiness in the world." "He does," I whispered with a sad smile. "Since when do you like AVM? I thought you can't stand him?" Rohan asked cuddled up in my arms. Everyone's eyes were on me and I frowned asking, "What?" Priya got up and came to me saying with a smirk, "You know what I think? I think that our Ankita here has a gigantic crush on our superstar but refuses to accept that she actually likes him." "Dr. Priya, your diagnoses on my feelings are completely wrong," I said. "But don't you really think that he is the best singer in the world?" She asked chewing popcorn. "Who? Sonu? Of course I do," I said. "Oh God! You and your Sonu Nigam obsession!" She said rolling her eyes. "Oh hello! Even your superstar AVM considers Sonu the God of singing. In fact, three years back, in Manali, Ayaan won a competition in which Sonu was chief guest and guess what? Sonu handed him the trophy himself," I bluntly said. They looked at me silently for a few seconds before Priya asked, "How do you know this?" Now I had to come up with an excuse. "I...I...read it somewhere..." I said. "Since when did you start reading AVM's interviews? And why haven't I read this one before?" Nana asked. Getting up to escape, I said, "Is this some trivia night? What's with all the questions?" I turned the volume up on the radio and went to the small veranda at the back of the house. Sitting on the swing, Ayaan's voice came to my ears and a piece of peace came to me as the salty breeze blew through my hair and I looked at the beach behind the house in the moonlight...

'...Yeh Dooriyan, In Raahon Ki Dooriyan
These distances, these distances of our paths
Nigahon Ki Dooriyan
These distances between our eyes
Hum Raahon Ki Dooriyan
These distances between two companions
Fanaa Ho Sabhi Dooriyan
May all these distances end

Yeh Dooriyan... (x3)
These distances

Kabhi Hua Yeh Bhi
This also happened sometimes
Khali Rahon Pe Bhi
Even on empty roads
Tu Tha Mere Saath
You were there with me

Kabhi Tujhe Milke Lauta
Sometimes even after meeting You
Mera Dil Yeh Khali Khali Haath
My heart returned empty handed
Yeh Bhi Hua Kabhi
This also happened sometimes
Jaise Hua Abhi
Just like it happened right now
Tujhko Sabhi Mein Paa Liya
I found You in everything around me

Tera Mujhe Kar Jaati Hai Dooriyan
These distances between us make me Yours
Sataati Hain Dooriyan
These distances torture me
Tarsaati Hain Dooriyan
These distances make me thirsty
Fanaa Ho Sabhi Dooriyan
May all these distances end...'

Ayaan's P.O.V.

I was sitting in my room and drinking when Mom came in. She frowned at me and dropped her shoulders saying, "Ayaan, why are you drinking so often? Don't do that, you will fall ill." "Sorry Mom, I am just in a good mood today. Let me drink," I said. I stood up but was so drunk already that my feet stumbled. Mom rushed to me and grabbed onto my shoulders. Taking the glass away from me, she rested it aside saying sternly, "You won't be drinking anymore." She carried me to my bed and I dropped down. Resting my head on her lap, I looked up at her and said, "I love you Mom. And I hate her. With all my heart." "Who?" She asked. "Ankita, I hate you," I said and dozed off. Later that night, my sleep was interrupted by a familiar giggling. Opening my eyes, I looked at Ankita standing in my room and laughing jolly. Gritting my teeth, I got off the bed and rushed her. Directly holding onto her neck, I carried her way back until her back was against the wall but it still didn't wipe off the smile. "Where are you? Where are you hiding? And why can't I find you? I have to get you for my revenge. Answer me where are you?" I yelled. Resting her hand on my heart, she said, "Why look for me in the physical world when I am always with you?" I let go off her neck and turned away angrily. "You are not in my heart. You are nowhere in me! Do you understand!" I screamed. Coming in front of me, she said, "I am. I am in your dreams." With that, my eyes shot open and it was already morning. It was really all just a dream. I held my head and reached for the glass of water on my side table. Drinking it down, I dropped back down and looked at in ceiling in a bad mood. Dashing into my room, Aarav came in saying, "Ayaan, what are you doing? We have to go!" "Where?" I asked. "The voting is over and you have got your next performing destination," he said.
