Rows of screens are hovering on the air right in front of me. As much as I think they're just illusions, the contents of the screens seem to have no plans of disappearing from my sight.
[Level Up! Level 19 to Level 20.]
[Level Up! Level 20 to Level 20.]
[Level Up! Level 20 to Level 20.]
It seems that without my knowledge, I already reached level twenty. It also seems that I've reached my limit now since there's a string of messages below that repeatedly said I'm unable to level up any further. What's this? Evolutionary limits or something?
But this is surely strange. Just this morning after I woke up, I'm still around level fifteen and this is the result of around a month of carefully hunting monsters. Come to think of it, there's a lot of corpses in this place. Did I kill all of them while I was asleep? Since there's no other reason for me to level up this fast if that wasn't the case.
Suddenly, my fur starts rising on. A slight chill travels down my spine and I can't help but freeze for a moment. Everything went back to normal not that long though. I wonder what was that. Somehow, I'm getting a bad feeling that something really wrong will happen if I dig around this matter deeper.
Just in case, I decided to open my Status Window to confirm my level. A string of words and numbers are lined up with a couple of new parts I haven't seen before.

[Evolution Requirements Met! Do You Want To Evolve To The Next Specie?
Available Evolution Forms:
1. Draconian Bat
2. Malignant Bat
3. Vampling[]
Evolution. It's probably the reason why I stopped levelling despite the large amount of experience points that wolf boss monster gave me. Come to think of it, there were some games I played in the past where I had to change classes in order to level up further. But the choices of evolution though...
There were explanations below each evolutionary forms and there were quite long but to sum it up, each of the three had characteristics unique to each other.
Draconian Bat is the huge bosd monster who I fought together with the human adventurers. Their bodies are stronger and they can use basic shadow power. As for what shadow power is, I can somehow guess based on the Phantom Shift skill I currently have.
Malignant Bats are less interesting. They're bigger than normal Dungeon Bats but they possess abilties related to poison.
The last one, the Vampling, was the caught that really caught my attention. It's a bat monster with characteristics that are human-like. In terms of abilties, they're more varied. They also don't possess any intriguing characteristics in battle. Despite that, my eyes are glued to this option the moment I read its description.
Human. I don't know how long I've been staying in this dark dungeon world and I've been counting the days based on the times I sleep and wake up. If my calculations is accurate, I had been staying in this place for around two months. That also means that I've been a monster for that two months too.
There's no need to hide my feelings. I feel absolutely terrible in this current body of mine. There's never a day when I don't think about being a human a day. If it wasn't for this compelling feeling of wanting to stay alive no matter what happens, I probably would've left myself to rot in this place at day one.
If I become a Vampling, I would have characteristics similar to a human. At the next levels, there should be instances where I have to evolve once again. Perhaps my choice right now would affect my choices later. In the future, I might attain full human form later.
My pair of eyes narrows while glaring at the third option. I can even hear my heavy breathing right now.
Just as I was about to choose the third option with my claws, I stopped moving. I turn my head to survey the surroundings. No living beings in the vicinity. However, I can't be so sure. Maybe there's something hidden in the forest of boulders aorund me. I don't have any idea what would happen the moment I started evolving.
My wings flaps and brings me to the air. I'm now gliding into the air to return back to my lair. It took quite some time but finally, I arrived at that small space covered by boulders of different sight. Other than flying to get to this place, there's no other way to enter.
This place should be fine. My lungs starts taking in air and my nerves which had been tight for quite some time now relaxes. Finally, I clicked on the third option on the screen right in front of me.
Suddenly, I started losing control of my body. I can feel myself falling to the rocky floor and a pain travels through my body as a result but even that pain quickly faded away. My senses are slowly being taken away one by one until finally, darkness is the only thing left.
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
I'm getting excited just by thinking of writing the next chapters.
