The leader of the mosquito monsters was shooting a nasty glare towards me. Its attention is now turned away from its original enemy. What are you looking at? Get back to you fight!
Unluckily for me, it seems to be in disagreement with my thoughts. Along with a buzzing sound is a piercing pain. Those are what my senses are telling me. My body is slowly falling towards the ground and now, the mosquito monsters' leader's proboscis is dripping with a little bit of my blood.
I can feel an annoying pain on my right wing. The reason for that is a small cut on the edge of the membranous body part. It's probably the result of this fellow's attack.
Although there's only a little wound on the wing, some blood still flowed out. Drops slowly drips to the ground each time I move and one of them even threatened to fall on the pendant which I now wore on my neck. I do nothing to stop it though since it's probably going to close soon.
I slowly take a few steps back and my lungs contracts slower but heavier than before. Aside from that, I can also feel the temperature of the place getting higher. Hmm? It's actually from the necklace?
It was glowing with a dim red light akin to that of flames. I make a motion to remove it but it actually was starting to embed itself into me. I can't consider the process painful but just plain weird and uncomfortable. Kind of like something wriggly trying to enter your body or something.
Thankfully, it was finished quite fast. Soon, I can no longer spot the pendant. However, there's a red symbol of a crown with four inlaid jewels on it present on my chest. What does this mean? Did I just contract something with a demon?
The next second, the crown symbol on my chest releases a faint red light. Like those high-tech scanners in movies, it makes a scan of the body of the mosquito boss from up to down before it disappears back into my chest.
[Vampiric Presence Level 1 Acquired!]
Sweet! This symbol's actually pretty cool! But first let's get out of here!
Unfortunately, escaping is the least of the things I can possibly do right now. The ground shakes for a few times. I know I have to get away but it's hard to move my wings because of my wound and I really feel tired all of a sudden.
It turns out that the reason for the earthquake is actually because of the Orc chieftain. He's taking advantage of the fact that the mosquito leader is preoccupied with something else to attack.
Broadswords have a wide range of attack and when used by someone with incredible strength, they can produce small turbulences in the air. It actually can't be considered a turbulence for others of course. For me who's little and has barely enough Power stats after my evolution into a Malicious Bat though, it's enough to send me flying straight into the air.
Together with a groan, my body safely makes contact with the ground while at the same time, kicking up a small cloud of dust. Fortunately, my body is still in one piece.
I look back and the two bosses are back doing their previous business once again. Alright, let's get away from this while they're not looking.
As I soon as I try to make a step, the sound of something cracking makes its way into my ears. I look below me and surely, the ground is really starting to crack. Starting from the place where I stood, it then starts to grow wider. I try move away but no sooner than a few seconds, the ground gives up of its hold of the world.
I can see myself falling downwards together with a lot of debris. Down below me is a wide tunnel that leads to a different place. It's still quite far away but I can already some form of lighting downwards. Is that the next floor of the dungeon?
Tsk! I have no time to dally. My wings starts flapping with all their might and despite the pain, I try to fly as hard as I can because if I fall at such a distance, I'll most definitely die.
The two bosses who were near me at the time of the fall are not present since they probably reacted fast. At the moment, rocks are falling from above. Although I am trying to dodge them as fast as I can I fly towards the place right below me, my body's already getting weaker and weaker as time passes. It's probably a result of all the stress from the previous incidents and it also even made my head a little groggy.
Ow! It's painful. Something hit my head, I know of it! The impact is making my visions turn blurry. This is bad! I have to hold on.
Another rock hits my head. This time, I can feel my grasp over my consciousness slowly turning weak until I finally drifting off to dreamland.
