A forest littered with rocks of various sizes and varieties of plants. What's surrounding me is nothing but nature and devoid of any humans activity. Such a beautiful place. I'm quite reluctant to destroy it but since I already got permission from the fairies then I might as well just do it.
In my right hand is a dagger about as long as a kitchen knife. On its green metallic handle are two huge characters different from any of the language in this world nor on Earth. At a single look, there are only two characters written on the dagger but there are actually quite a lot of them. Together, they formed various patterns which can evoke various effects when you pour mana into it.
I begin raising the dagger and pulling it backwards, I try to find something to attack by wandering my gaze around. My gaze stops at a random boulder which is around a meter tall. This one should do.
I quickly start pouring mana into the handle of the dagger and the runes begin glowing the moment the mana passed through them. After that, I make a slashing motion. The edge of the dagger leaves a trail of purple light in the shape of an arc on its wake.
The purple light travels through the air and starts flying towards the boulder. As it got farther away from me, it starts getting longer. Its color also turns lighter, a sign that the attack is now less decompressed and weaker. The arc of light then lands upon the boulder and cuts through its hard structure like butter. However, it doesn't stop there. The light hits a few random trees in the back, cutting them as a result.
Phew! The power is good for a Tier Two weapon. Although this tier of Arcane Craft is made for those around level twenty to level forty, I think it's enough for even those above the mentioned levels to play around with for a while.
Hmm? The feeling of being stared pokes my back likely. My senses picks up a few creatures behind me. I turn my head around to see Beluga and two of his apprentices looking at me nervously while partially hiding behind a huge ancient tree.
Why are these guys here? Are they mad about the trees? Although they're the one who told me to just do whatever I want.
I start writing on the air with mana to talk to them. "You can come out now!"
Reluctantly, they come out of their hiding place. Their eyes are glued to the spot where I tested my dagger's ability, fear visible in their pupils while doing so.
"As expected of Your Highness. Although I've never seen a Tier Three Arcane Artifact before, I'm sure that your work is already at that level," Beluga compliments me with a huge smile which stretches his sunken cheeks. His hands are also rubbing his hands while approaching me.
Not really. I barely even know how to make Tier Two Arcane Crafts. There's no way I can create one if I don't have a guide. After all, even the talented Beluga who is the best Arcane Craftsman in the Fairy Tribe can only craft Tier Two ones since the legacy of their school is cut off a hundred years ago.
"Not really." I shrug before asking him. "So, what did you come here for?"
"Oh, about that. It's the Carving Pen Your Highness. The body is already finished," Beluga announces with sincere delight visible on his face. Even the two nervous disciples behind him have joyous expressions on their faces just like their master.
"Eh? It's about that? You did it quite fast, huh?" My eyes widen slightly while writing.
The Carving Pen was an experimental device I've been working on for the past few weeks. It was only in paper for discussions but that's only until today.
I can understand their excitement. After all, carving the runes which is the most important part in Arcane Crafts is incredibly hard. There is a huge demand to the level of your Mana Affinity skill for you to be able to skillfully carve runes especially the finer ones. The craftsman also have to be careful in carving or else the whole object will be ruined.
