12: Suction

Boulder of different sizes are scattered all around me. Almost all of them sported various holes as of something sharp had pierced through them. In fact, something did. This valley is pretty much just rocks and barely any mushrooms so they served as the best practice area for me to improve my skills.

I'm sitting on top of a rock with my mouth wide open. My throat feels a bit itchy. I groan to try and clear whatever's irritating it.

Not long after that, small blobs of faint blue light starts to appear outside my gaping mouth. They gather together to form a ball of light the size of a basketball. It suddenly contracts in the manner of a second before it starts spinning. Finally, it launches itself forwards at a speed I can only describe as incredible.

The ball of light moves at a speed that leaves a blur wherever it passed by. It hits a boulder, leaving a deep hole on the hard object and then it disappears into thin air.

I flap my wings to take me to that boulder. The boulder is only about twenty meters or so away from me so I arrived just as fast as I took off.

Uh-huh. The bullet I made from mana is definitely lethal in power. I bet I can pierce a hole into that Orc chieftain's body if I meet him again. It might be a bit ugly if it's fired into a human though. Ugh! Just thinking about it makes my mood unpleasant.

Finally some good news! This skill has not leveled up ever since yesterday. It took this many tries just to get it to reach level five. I wonder how long will it take for it to reach the next level instead.

There's no mistaking that this skill will help me live longer. I mean, a passive skill that can let you control mana to make a shield, bullet, and even eating utensils is just convenient. It would've been better if it consumed less mana points.

I reached out to the hole before I started rubbing it gently. After that, I I let out a sigh.

It's been a week since the incident at the drowned nymphs' lake. All that I've done was to sleep, eat, practice my skills, and then sleep again. It's pretty boring actually. The only source of my entertainment was raising my skills' levels. If it wasn't for that, I might've gone crazy.

I wonder if I should try exploring the area even further. The farthest I've been through in this valley was only s few kilometers away. There were barely anything except for rocks and mushrooms. There were sources of water too actually where edible plants grew but other than those, there was nothing else. I did heard of roars from monsters but I never dared to check them out.

If this goes on, I'll probably end up crazy. I wish a human, or even just a small creature would pass by. Well, I'm not exactly feeling lonely right now or scared. It's dark and void of any intelligent being but I'm not feeling any of those emotions I should have right now. It's as if my mind has become a mountain, now steady and not easy to shake. If it's like this, maybe I won't go crazy after all.

Tsk! Just as I thought, there's definitely something wrong with my head. It looks like after I became a bat, I also lost some things that are essential for my human heart. Speaking of heart...

My head changes angle downward to peer at my chest. The small whirlpool of energy is now gone. It disappeared right after I feel asleep last week. It's probably fully charged now. Grandpa handed me that pendant for me to inherit but I didn't expect that it would actually be so mysterious. If it wasn't for the skill copier that it had, I'd be long dead.

Whatever! I won't think about this anymore. I think I'll just check out my stats.

Except for Glow which was totally useless since it actually just makes my body glowed with a green hue, all my active skills leveled up. My Mana Affinity also leveled up despite being a passive after continuously manipulating mana.

There's another thing. My intelligence stat actually rose by one point. It happened right after I woke up a few days ago. Why it happened? I have no idea. Sometimes, I really can't help but wonder if this Status Screen is bugged or not.

A small growl suddenly reaches my ears. Eh? It's actually from my stomach. It must've been a few hours already so my tummy's pretty angry now. Time to eat!

My wings flaps and raises me rapidly to the air. In just a split second, I'm already gliding through the air. The valley slowly got deeper as my wings took me further inside.

Just a few meters below, my eyes catches sight of a small clear spring. It's sparkly just as always. I haven't had a stomache so it's probably as clean as how it looked.

My flight changes its course downwards to the pond. Eh? What's that?

A dark hole appears at the pond. It slowly expands and with great suction force, it starts sucking in the air around. What's this? Gotta leave!

Huh? I can't move. Something seems to be restricting my movements. I can see the surroundings blur. The hole is now actually sucking me downwards.

What the heck is going on?
