The ground was shaking and while it probably is too light for other creatures to feel, it's a bit too strong for a little bat like me. As the Orc chieftain gets closer to our spot, I can see his face more clearly. Green skin, ruby-like eyes, and a sinister mouth with sharps fangs even peeking out from the sides.
His eyes carry a certain degree of annoyance as he surveys the situation. As his shadow overlaps with the cages, I can feel my body slowly turning cold. What is this? An innate fear for stronger creatures? Is it because he's too big?
"Poison!" The or chieftain screams that word before he turns his body. With a grunt, he makes a move and sidekicks the overturned cauldron on the ground.
The orcs flinches at his aggresive actions and so do the monsters in the cages.
So his nose is actually that sharp. This is probably a boss monster's strength. Why did I have to encounter one right after being transported into this world? Oh no, he's coming towards us!
"Chief! Intruders!" Someone's shrill voice reaches us. It came from a different cave entrance. The scream takes the attention of all intelligent creatures present from the orcs laying on the ground paralyzed to his side.
It's a creature with similar green skin like the orcs but he was much, much smaller. With his pointy ears, big eyes, and a silly face, I can guess right away that this creature is a goblin. A black pelt fur was tied on his forehead. What's a goblin doing here?
The goblin shows a terrified expression while he was running towards our direction. Behind him is a kind of noise I only heard from flying insects before. However, they're louder and more irritating. Could it be...
There's not much of a surprise. They are indeed insects, mosquitoes to be exact. With their ebony bodies and tough shells that looks like high-tech armor, there's no way I can stop my fur from rising.
However, I think that their long needle-like proboscis that's around a foot long, probably, is the most terrifying thing about it. An orc of huge stature transforms from a buff creature into a lanky person each time a mosquito attacks. Behind the mosquitoes is a similarly terrifying brethren of theirs that's at least twice as big as them.
I turn my head to the Orc chieftain. He's quite shocked but his hands still grabs his huge brown broadsword, something he probably grabbed from an adventurer before because I don't believe the orcs have such profound knowledge on metallurgy. His high intelligence also shows as he's pretty quick in managing his emotions.
"Charge!" The Orc chieftain commands his subordinates.
No teamwork, no strategies. The orcs are now in the middle of a bloody fight with the mosquitoes and neither of them are willing to check out their comrade's current situation. With the number of death counts from both sides however, I think that they're pretty much the same.
This should be the time for me to escape, right? But before that, let us take back my pendant first. Wait, what are you doing?
"Screech!" I bang at my cage as I can only watch helplessly as the goblin from before slowly rubs my pendant with greedy eyes. Drool drips from his mouth but thankfully, none of it manages to soil my precious treasure.
The goblin gazes around the battlefield sneakily for a few times before he grabs a key that's hanging near the Orc chieftain's throne. He turns his gaze to the battlefield once more and after finding out that no one's looking at him, with the exception of me, he sneaks into my colleagues' cages and sets us free one by one.
I-is he trying to create a diversion? Incredible! How intelligent is this guy?
He quickly proves my guess right as the captured monsters indeed were a diversion. They started to make a fuss and soon, they were already attraction the attention of everyone.
Great, great indeed. But give me my pendant first!
Unlike the other animals, I'm not interested in rampaging around since I'm still a human at heart after all. My wings quickly makes a flap and brings me flying right to the goblin's head. I quickly circle downwards to grab the pendant off his hands.
As soon as my claws grabs the bronze pendant, I quickly make a change of direction mid-air in order to get away from this chaotic place. The air resistance coupled with the harsh beating of my heart raises my adrenaline to the max. I have no time to calm down though. I need to escape this place, fast!
Hmm? What's that? I can hear something buzzing coming towards me. My head turns around a couple degrees in angle.
Black shelled armor, transparent wings, and sinister pure black eyes. How did the leader of those mosquito monsters come here? Worse is that to its right is actually the raging Orc chieftain. Did I actually head into their direction when I was in the middle of my escape?

Happy 100 Reads guys! Thanks for all the support. I can't believe it rose so much in just a week.
P.S: A mosquito's having its meal (me) while I was writing this chapter.
