Silence permeates the whole place and the only thing I can see is a light at the end of the tunnel where I am currently falling from. Then pounding sounds reaches my ears as I got closer to that light. Wait, it's actually the sound of the beating of my heart.
This sudden suction force that's pulling me downwards, I can feel it slowly getting weaker as I get closer to that light. It kept getting weaker and weaker until it finally halts.
T-this place. I'm currently in a huge cave. Outside the cave, I can see the light from gigantic mushrooms. Together with the mushrooms are the familiar boulders and the valley.
So I'm actually still at this place.
"It summoned reinforcements!" A man's voice sounds out and echoes along the walls of the cave.
Huh? There's someone here?
A turn of my head reveals a small party of five humans. One man who carried a sword and a shield is holding the vanguard. A fully cloaked guy and spearwoman are in charge of the middle part of their formation. At the rear, a male healer and a female mage can be seen.
Somehow, seeing them makes me feel relieved. Now, if I can have my human vocal chords back so that I can chat with them, it'd be perfect!
They look quite serious and anxious though judging from their facial expressions as they shot me glares of varying degrees. Wait! They're not staring at me but behind me.
I turn my body around. The moment after I did so, my breath halts at my throat. A pair of yellow eyes that resembled lanterns hovers in the air.
T-this is... My feet are slowly inching away as my eyes try to take in more of that creature's features. A bat's body with the size of about twelve feet tall in height and a wingspan of probably ten feet. Scales of various sizes also covered its upper body and feet. This bat thing is huge!
A health bar appears right next to it indicating its current health which is still around seventy percent, probably. I can't do the math but its health points definitely indicates its healthy despite the various wounds on its body.
It's glaring at everyone which includes the humans, me, and a dozen or so Dungeon Bats that looked totally overgrown. I didn't notice the latter until now with their fur but it seems as if they're the evolved forms of Dungeon Bats. What are they?
"Skriii!" A piercing screech leaves the mouth of the gigantic creature. Following that is the appearance of around of hmmm... Ten, eleven, twelve. Around fifteen rings made of red light. They're flying towards the Dungeon Bats and one of them is even headed towards me.
Is that what I think it is? If it's so, then it'd be bad if I get caught in one of those things.
My mouth opens and following that, blobs of blue light appears at right outside of it. They gather to form a blue orb of light which is rapidly turning smaller and finally, it became as small as a candy. It then started to spin before it starts flying to the ring which is headed towards me. All of this happened in only the matter of a second. I guess my week long training in order to master this attack has not gone to waste.
The ring and the bullet made of mana collides, creating a small explosion of violet light. The two then starts dispersing into tiny motes of light. I'm safe now but not my fellow bats though. A lot of them look disoriented, probably feeling unwell after that unknown teleportation skill.
Taking advantage of their slow reactions, the rings slid themselves on the necks of the Dungeon Bats. When the bats starts to realize that something got into their necks, it was already too late. Their claws are pulling the rings with insane acrobatic skills in hopes of removing them but to no avail.
Poor fellows. I think I already know what's going to happen.
And then, it really happened. Slowly, their body starts to transform. Their originally thin bodies starts to turn bulkier by the second and following that was the expansion of their wings. Finally, the long awaited change of eye color to red happened.
This whole thing reeks of a typical villain emerging from its slumber. I better get out of here.
I quickly flap my wings and started gliding away. My direction? The entrance of the cave of course. I passed by the transformed bats and the humans in the way. In a few seconds, I'm now outside.
Should I leave? I guess I should. But the humans inside...
Something heavy is pulling on my shoulders. It's not literal but when I think about leaving those fellows inside, I somehow feel guilty.
I-I guess I should check it out from afar. If I can help then I will but if I don't, I think I'll just bail.
A sigh escaped my mouth and with a turn of my body, I'm now heading back to the place which I just abandoned. The familiar humid air and the smell of something rancid assaults my senses. I'm now starting to regret this.
I perch myself on a hanging stone wall to watch the scene unfolding below. The battle has finally started.
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
So I changed something on the Status Window which will be seen later in the next chapters. I removed Class since it doesn't really go well with my plans for our MC. By the way, I really think that it's weird for the little bat to have no name until now. I wonder when he's going to use his original human name again.
