There's probably nothing more exciting for me than reading a book of the role-playing-game genre. Monsters, action, adventures, and the like never failed their job in making my blood pump.
A question I always like to ask my friends, have you ever dreamt of being transported to a different world? Because I did and I still do. However, I never really expected that this silly and impossible dream of mine would come true. But I think there's something wrong...
-----
A feeling of powerlessness permeates my body. I groan as I try to endure the dizzying spell cast on my head. My eyes squints as I made them wander their gaze around me to so I can see how the place around. It was dark and there was only a dim lighting that made visibility possible in the place.
'Wandering my eyes' might be an understatement though as they're changing directions almost second. I can feel a slight pain on my head after switching my gaze back and forth to the creatures a few meters below me, my heart also pounding at my chest as I did so.
Gigantic humans wielding cold weapons are in the middle of a heated battle against similarly gigantic rodents.
One of the rodents was about to snap its needle-like teeth towards a rugged man with a sword when suddenly, an arrow made of flames made its appearance and hit its beady eyes.
The rodent let our a roar as it was sent flying into the air. Coincidentally, it was actually headed towards the wall right next to me.
Tsk! I can't believe I actually still had the time to watch while something dangerous is going on right in front of me, way to go Mike!
As the rodent made contact with the wall, my surroundings shook heavily for a moment before my feet was dislodged from its hold of the ceiling. Wait, why was it my feet?
In the middle of my fall, my gaze switched from the battle to my feet. It was clawed and black. It was not the only strange thing. My whole body was also furry and had a dark brown color similar to the color of soil. At my peripheral vision, I can see some falling objects too.
We all had a not-so-nice meeting with the rocky floor. Strangely, I can barely feel any pain. But that's not what's important. Those things that fell together with me, I can recognize them. They were bats. Just now, I looked at my own body, and saw that I had the same fur and claws as them.
Please let my guess go wrong!
With some difficulty, I made a command to my arms to move so that I can see them. Just as I guessed, there was no arms. Only a pair of brownish membranous wings were present. There was no mirror here but I bet that my head was that of a bloodsucking mammal as well. In short, I actually became a bat!
"Raflessia, let's just back away. There's too many Dungeon Rodents this time!" A feminine voice reached my ears.
I don't have to take a guess where the voice came from, don't I? It came from the group of gigantic humans. No! Their height should be normal. It's just me who's too small.
The one who spoke was a red robed lady who had a wooden staff on her hands. I clearly haven't heard nor learned of the language she had spoken but strangely, I could understand them.

What's this? A status window? I'm actually seeing one! It's just like a screen with strange letters encoded into it. Despite the fact that its my first time seeing them, I could actually understand them. It must be because of the World Language skill. This is...This is really straight out of a fantasy novel!
Loud screeching sounds suddenly sounded out and shook the place. I couldn't help but jump out of shock. Did something happen?
One look and I know it's definitely bad for the team of humans. Three large rodents surrounded them. I only just took notice right now but there are actually five humans. However, the robed lady, the rugged man with the sword, and a thin man wielding a knife were the only ones left standing. The other two were injured with the remaining three protecting them through a circular formation.
At this rate, they're definitely going to be killed. What should I do? Wait, can I even do anything? I'm just a bat now and they're large monsters. But if I don't help, murder's gonna happen right in front of me.
"Milan!" The rugged man scream spoke told people of his alarm as well as concern.
Milan was the man with a knife from before. If this was a novel, he should be of the rogue or thief class despite his muscular build. Right now though, a frightening wound can be seen on his right shoulder as a the teeth of one of the Dungeon Rodents scratched through the skin.
I quickly averted my sight upwards and then my body turned rigid for a moment soon after. That was too bloody! There was no way I would feel comfortable with that scene. Erase! Erase!
Eh? What's that? Stalactites? They're barely hanging on from the walls of the cave. The lighting was poor but I could definitely still see the sharp pointed ends of the mineral formation.
It's a moment of inspiration and I don't know if it would happen but I think I have an idea. Unconsciously, my membranous wings started flapping to propel me to the air. The next thing I knew, I was now staring face-to-face with the stalactites of the cave.
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
There's a couple of things that might seem weird but they will be made clear in the next chapters. Like for example, our protagonist's background.
