It's already been an hour since we stopped by this place. Honestly, I really think it's been a waste of time since no one really came but considering that my mana reserves were really low back then, I guess it's only right for me to take a rest. Besides...
My gaze moves to my side where a redhead ponytail girl is lying on the grass with a huge backpack as a pillow. Honestly, her level's already higher than a normal human. Can't she make it without a night's rest? Well, it'd be bad if she just starts getting drowsy while we're browsing treasures later.
Still, that other candidate never really came, huh? Instead of moving closer to me, he's now farther away from his original position. Could it be that he's scared?
Suddenly, the ground beneath us starts shaking mad. My eyes widen while my body moves away from the spot immediately. Since the metallic arm is still grabbing into Maine, she's safe and sound. Her bag's not though. Lol.
My wings flap as I begin flying above the spot where we used to rest just a few moments ago. The ground suddenly explodes, sending rubble and grass all over the place. A huge hole appears on that place where a familiar man with a huge scorpion tail emerges with a grin. On his hand is a compass with it's needle currently pointed in my direction.
It's the guy from before. So the candidate didn't really come, huh?
"Is your boss really that scared to come by himself that he needs a lackey to catch me?" I try to act cool while saying that, folding my hand in the process.
The man does not reply and only stares at me with an amused smile on his face. I return that stare and as the two of us lock gazes, I quickly start backing away. Man, this guy's a whole tier above me! There's no way I can fight him. Gotta leave!
I immediately turn around and start heading towards the Adamantium Rose Fruit while pouring mana into my chest. A moment later, I'm already standing near the fruit. Without wasting any more time, my hand quickly reaches out towards the fruit to grab it. As my hand wraps around it, I quickly begin to snatch it away from the branch it's currently connected to. However, it doesn't budge.
Huh? What's this? The fruit's stuck. I can't pull it out!
A blade of mana appears on my hand and slashes through the spot where the fruit and the branch is connected. Sparks appear unexpectedly and only a small gash is created. It's too hard!
"You're mine!" A man's voice sounds out some distance away behind me.
The wind is blowing your my direction. Even without turning around, I can already sense something is coming towards me but it's too fast. I can't dodge. Tsk!
In the matter of a few milliseconds, I think, I let mana flow in my body towards the barrier item in the form of a ring on my finger. A pale violet barrier made of mana suddenly appears around us and blocks the attack. This time, I am now able to turn around to face the attack just in time as the barrier starts melting.
A huge blazing ball of lava around twice my height. It's melting the barrier at a rapid pace. My mana is also depleting fast as it tries to repair the barrier. While this is happening, I begin pouring mana into my chest. The barrier finally disappears and a scalding blast of wind hits me. However, my body suddenly warps and appears a few dozen meters into the air.
The ball of lava lands on the Adamantium Rose Heart and hides it away from my sight. As it does so, my heart also feels like it's melting. M-my preparations. It's all for nothing now that the fruit is gone.
"Mikhail, I just found out something really bad. Let's quickly leave!" Maine suddenly screams in panic.
"Huh? What are you-" My words are cut off as a loud chest pounding roar radiates out from below. I turn my gaze over there and my gaze quickly lands on the perpetrator.
It's actually the Adamantium Rhinoceros who is now charging towards the man with the scorpion tail with red furious eyes. It's really slow though. Probably because of its weight. In response, the scorpion man merely gives it a sneer before waving his tail. A needle made of lava suddenly flies from it and heads towards it.
A barrier appears around me and blocks the attack. Thankfully, the attack this time is not as strong as the previous one. It starts melting the portion of the barrier it is in contact with but the damaged area quickly heals.
"Hey Mikhail! I already told you. Let's leave! I remember now. There's a huge gravity cave below every Adamantium Rose Fruit," Maine throws something at the back of my head to get my attention.
I turn my head towards her to give her a glare but my body is also backing away from the place as I do so. If it's really that important then why didn't she immediately remember it while we're still waiting for the scorpion guy to appear? And what's that gravity cave she's talking about? Sounds lame and dangerous. Let's get out of here!
Suddenly, a bright light appears below the ground which catches my attention while I'm backing away. It's coming from the place where the Adamantium Rose Fruit is currently buried. In fact, it's actually coming from the fruit itself which is now hovering in the air. The branch is now gone, probably now molten. However, the fruit is now hovering mid-air.
A grin suddenly forms in my mouth as mana pours into my chest almost subconsciously. The space around the fruit suddenly warps and it disappears from its position. I hold out my right palm at the same time as the fruit lands on it.
Heavy! It's like holding multiple barbells in one hand. If not for my enhanced strength stats, I probably wouldn't be able to carry it.
"It's mine now! Bye bye!" I start waving at the two creatures below before backing away.
Before I can even get a few meters away from the spot where I originally hovered, a strong force suddenly pulls my body downwards. My breath is suddenly stuck inside my throat as the sight of the sky getting farther away enters my eyes and my mind goes blank for a moment.
A loud booming sound suddenly resounds throughout the place, temporarily taking away my hearing. Before I knew it, I'm already falling underground. The ground beneath us previously is now gone and the two enemies are also being pulled downwards.
I try to manipulate space to teleport away from the place but just before my body can even warp away, the force suddenly strengthens. The space around where I was about to teleport is now chaotic.
This is bad! This place can even interfere with teleportation?
It's as if a really huge and strong hand is pulling me downwards but I can't really resist. Even just moving my hands is already a chore. However, I try to move as much as possible in order to get Maine to be closer to me by pushing my hands to my waist where the metallic arm grabbing her is connected.
The metallic arm starts emitting cracking sound as Maine is getting closer. The moment that she's already directly above me, the metallic arm suddenly starts cracking from the middle before fully separating into two. Maine falls on top of me and strengthens the pull even further.
"W-what happening?" Those words escape my mouth just in time as something hard hits my head.
Darkness suddenly starts permeating my vision until finally, my consciousness leaves me.
